SOS...

The schedule is not the sole reason we dont go bowling. IMO, it has more to do with horrible recruiting and coaching. 6 wins should be attainable regardless of the schedule. Ill complain about SOS when we cant ever win more than 7 games a season.

at least we are outside the top ten to start with, instead being in the top 3 or 5 or whatever....

Are strength of schedule looks harder because it doesn't have us weighing it down like every other team in the conference. We only have ****** Kansas as a really bad team. All other teams other than Kansas have ****** Kansas and ****** ISU.

Squawks come in at #71. Surprised they are that high. I was looking at their schedule last week and they might not play a ranked team until November.

Pretty sure there's not another team that talks more about SOS than us. It's a BS discussion because you play who you play. We will always (hopefully) play the B12 schools. We will also most likely play Iowa. As long as we're one of the worst teams in a strong conference, ours will be tough. And you know what would make Iowa have a tougher SOS? Yes, us not being terrible.

Campbell is disproving the "can't recruit to Ames" crowd. I hope I never hear him mention our schedule. Losers mentality.

There's a reason we're always high up on the SOS list. We've always sucked. We start winning consistently and we'll be viewed as the tough opponent for once. Until then we'll be "just Iowa State."

^^^^this. This right here. Why do our opponents have such good win/loss records? Well, partly because we regularly contribute to their win total, but not their loss total.

It's not a BS discussion...I agree that we can't change it..but sometimes reality needs to set in and realize that every year we play 5-6 teams ranked in the top 25 and another 2-3 who are prob in the top 40... Gee 81 I guess then u are ok with the wins we've had past 3 years because we've basically beaten the teams we were supposed to beat and lost to teams who are just better and ranked higher.

I read this more in your post than 81's.

SOS doesn't matter at all, that's why ISU went 21-11 and got a 4 seed.

Over Indiana, Maryland and Purdue at 5 seeds with 7, 8 and 8 losses.

I'm not OK with that at all. That's my point. I would like us to get good enough that we beat the teams we're supposed to, be competitive with the top teams and that means consistent 6+ win seasons.

Again, it's loser mentality to cry about your schedule, especially when the season hasn't even started.

We don't go bowling because we don't have depth and can't close.

We've left many games for the taking on the table the last 3 years.

2013: UNI, Texas (granted the call at the end didn't help), TCU (had a lead late 4th quarter: Close those and we bowl

2014: Kansas State (lead late couldn't convert a 3rd and 1), Texas (tied late into the 4th), Texas Tech (same story)
This would have put us at 5-7...so not bowling, but at least respectable for ISU standards

2015: Toledo (missed kick to win it), Okie State (late 4th quarter lead), Kansas State (Paul Rhoads still thanking UNI hoops for most recentl horrible collapse). Not to mention we were tied with Iowa in the second half.

It's a game of inches.

SOS doesn't matter in football. If you think it does, you haven't been paying attention.

Hard to tell what matters in college football outside of the name on the front of the jersey and finishing the season with 0 or 1 loss.
