Does anyone think its sorta difficult to recruit big city kids (which alot of these recruits either live or 'some' aspire to live) to Ames? or state of Iowa in general? Just an honest question. Don't get me wrong, I love Ames, and when we get players here, I think they love it too. Some like 'small', while others don't. It's not like Stillwater, Waco, Lawrence, are big attraction cities, either, I wouldn't think, but maybe they're closer to hot spots, I'm not sure. And I also don't know what campuses have to offer that would sway them to fall in love with a place. Winning traditions and coaching staffs are still probably more what they look at first, though.

It is kind of interesting isnt it? I had to spend a day in Waco TX a couple years ago. When we pulled out of town I remember thinking, how in the heck can they get any kid that isn't a Southern Baptist Texan to attend this School. Absolutely nothing down there but Dust, Baylor Bears, and Dr Pepper. Only green I saw was the football field turf, everything else went dormant. I asked a local I was working with if there was a drought going on and he just chuckled at me and replied "no this is what we call summer." Dust, unbelievable amounts of dust, no trees no windbreaks, just dust.

Anybody know of this 2014 6-10" C Ivan Ucedo that we are interested in? Just noticed his name recently on Rivals, and don't believe I have seen it in the past...

Though I agree about going Juco, its unavoidable if we can't pull quality HS players from the HS ranks. No sense is bringing in a project that can't contribute for multiple years if you can pull a transfer or Juco that could play right away.

Edited my post. He's #33 in black. Subs in at 4:14

Admittedly, only watched 5 min. of it or so. Uh...am I missing something? At 6'10, he didn't aggressively challenge anyone on defense, got shoved around on offense. But, probably likes to shoot the '3' ???

After posting the video I checked out his stats for the game from the link provided by Thompsonclone21:
4-8 8 pts 1rb 1stl

He did score in double figures in his last 16 games.
This is possibly his best game of the season:

He averages 16 and 11. Shoots almost 60% from the field

At 6'10", this is that "BIG" presence we were discussing in threads before. I say take a chance at Ucedo, and have Moser work the heck out of him in the weight room to get stronger. A 60% clip shooting is impressive.
