Still trying too hard, my fellow Cyclone "fan"

You should try posting positively, not sunshine and rainbows but positively, before you try to go all negative.

Plus never protest people's questioning of your intentions so strenuously. It makes you look like you are aware of being guilty of trolling.

I'm just trying to help man

Well, I'm definitely not a troll, just a Cyclone who likes to discuss sports. But I admit I must be an idiot for continuing this conversation. Again, I ask you, where have I been 'negative'? By defending myself when being called the ultimate worst..a Hawk? Yikes.
Now....back to recruiting. Does anyone know if we're still interested in Quadri Moore?

lolgurlssports.

Would other posters view me as negative if I replied to your post and said "but I like Cyclone VB"? lol Area girl that I've watched play, Shaben, 2-time all-stater, recently committed to play for Christy in 2014. Love that she'll be a Cyclone! ( I do appreciate your non-attackinng post earlier, of being careful of adverse opinions. Thanks. )

The consensus around here is Moore is a longshot.

Are we on any post prospects that aren't long shots? Moore is a long shot. Abu is a possibility I guess. We haven't heard much from Johnson after his visit, which is usually not a good thing. Bonzie Colson didn't mention us recently. We've been out with Travis for a while now.

Does anyone have any info on a big that we are sitting good with?

I have the feeling that under Hoiberg, we're going to land very good guards and then go to the juco and transfer ranks to fill in with bigs for the most part. Not sure why no one over 6'7" will give us a shot.

Oh, okay. What about O'mara (sp?) then? Guess I hadn't heard much lately on him either. Or if the interest is mutual.

I read somewhere a while back that we stopped recruiting him. Not sure how legit that info is, but it lines up with not hearing much on him in the last 2 months.

There was an O'Mara update a couple pages back. I'm too lazy to go back to find it, but either we are still recruiting him or he is still interested. He listed us along with Xavier and Loyola-Chicago.

Couple of ISU recruiting updates from Adias Invitiational (Macura) and Reebok Breakout Classic (O'Mara) from NE Basketball. I think CFH made an impression with J.P. I also haven't seen alot of O'Mara ISU association late so the blurb below suprised me a little. I think Xavier is the favorite, but it is obvious ISU has made some in roads.
J.P. Macura of Lakeville North (MN) stated that he is high on Kansas State, Iowa State and Butler. The 2014 prospect also mentioned interest from Xavier and Purdue. Macura recently picked up offers from North Carolina State, Minnesota and Miami (FL).
ADIDAS INVITATIONAL — DAY TWO | NBE Basketball Report

Sean O’Mara listed scholarship offers from 19 schools: Illinois-Chicago, SIU-Edwardsville, Iowa State, Xavier, Loyola-Chicago, La Salle, Saint Louis, Boston College, Virginia, Illinois, DePaul, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Lehigh, Oakland, Columbia, Seton Hall, and Dayton. Additionally, he is hearing from Wake Forest, Marquette, Gonzaga, and Belmont. O’Mara also said, “I’ve talked to Kansas and Duke, but I don’t think they’re really recruiting me.â€

At this point O’Mara said that Loyola-Chicago, Iowa State, Xavier, and Virginia are the four schools standing out to him, with Xavier atop the list. O’Mara has been on unofficial visits to Illinois-Chicago, Iowa State, Xavier, Loyola-Chicago, Saint Louis, Illinois, DePaul, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Lehigh, Oakland, Dayton, and Notre Dame. The big man has no timetable for a commitment and is in “no real rush†to make a decision. As for future visits, O’Mara said, “I’m looking to maybe take an official visit to Xavier and Virginia right now.†He noted that no dates have been set.

I'd take Macura, Cunnningham, and O'Mara in a heartbeat. I'm normally optimistic, but I don't have a good feeling about any of our highly ranked prospects. Macura might end up being the Thomas or Niang of this class in that he is a late riser in the rankings. We just don't have one of those guys that you feel is only a matter of time before they commit. I got that feeling with Thomas and Niang.

We are recruiting some big name guys, but at the end of the day, it's very hard to get a highly recruited athlete to Ames. This class may end up being an "always the bridesmaid" type of classes unfortunately.

Hearing we didn't make an impression for Johnson, but that doesn't mean we'll stop showing him the love. Has other things on his mind. There's just not enough of the top notch 6'8 PF,C to do around, imo.

Good grief. I sat at the CCL games the last two times with the rest of the Cyclone fans around me. People talk and visit. Sorry I ruffled anyone's feathers by posting something I heard. Why someone has to be a troll if they say something someone doesn't agree with or hasn't heard before is beyond me. People on this board post alot of things they've heard or chatted with fellow fans about. But don't worry I "get it" now. If you can't pin the source, than say nothing at all. You have to be accepted or proven worthy and a long time poster to be allowed here. Being a season ticket holder since Johnny Orr came here, a Cyclone Club member, and a diehard Cyclone fan and now I'm called a 'troll'? By the way, the hawk talk was because there was mention of that in the thread. We have to play them every year, live and work with their fans, so yeah, I'll respond to posts about them, too. Can't stand them anymore than you.
This **** that burns my ***. What do you expect people to think when you make comments like the first one with 0 context. No one knows you but we should be like. "Oh damn, alright **** that guy, random guy who just joined recently said he didn't like his visit. Not saying he didn't, but this website is very easy to communicate with out being considered a troll. When a consensus by numerous members is labeling you that, maybe it's a you. I don't know anything about you but it isn't the first time I seen people label you as such.
If that is the case with Johnson, that's too bad.

Uh...I didn't just join recently. Just hardly posted much in the past year, but following and watching CCL games with fellow fans more this year, so I started getting into the whole recruiting discussion. "Numerous members" labeling me that? No, I mistakenly (and YES, I admit it was a mistake NOW) blurt out something I heard, and you act like nobody else ever does that on this board. So a few people chime in and say, "yeah, that guys a troll", because I hadn't posted for a long time. I'm not new to following this board and I care as much about Cyclone sports as you do. I read alot of people's posts, including yours, and enjoy the discussions and I don't have any clue who people are, nor you either. I already admitted by mistake, above. I don't want to argue. Can't we just drop this whole thing? Fair enough?

No problem, to be clear, I never accused you of anything, just stating others have and if that was the talk in your circle about Johnson, I can respect that. Just telling you what should be obvious when discussing interests of recruits. Wonder what about our program doesn't interest bigs. Our last NBA draft pick was a big after all.

I haven't seen this discussed much since it was announced, does this hurt our chances with this kid? Did we ever really have much of a shot?

I think there's a real good shot with him.
Not sure what moving to Kansas will do to that.

Make that our last 2 draft picks, with Brackins, ISU's highest-ranked recruit all time. I'd say ISU doesn't really have trouble getting bigs to come to Ames, just in recent years it's been a struggle. There was Godfrey, who would be a senior this year, but we all know how that ended. Plus Justin Hamilton was another not too long ago, but a defector due to wanting to play closer to home. All of these guys are within the last 5 years. I am frustrated by the recent miffs as well, but I'm sure we haven't seen the last big to ever commit to ISU at this point.
