You would think a talented protypical 'big' would see a great opportunity for stardom and playing time here. Truly would be a 'bmoc' , big man on campus. Was our last effective 'shot blocker' Kelvin Cato?

This **** that burns my ***. What do you expect people to think when you make comments like the first one with 0 context. No one knows you but we should be like. "Oh damn, alright **** that guy, random guy who just joined recently said he didn't like his visit. Not saying he didn't, but this website is very easy to communicate with out being considered a troll. When a consensus by numerous members is labeling you that, maybe it's a you. I don't know anything about you but it isn't the first time I seen people label you as such.
If that is the case with Johnson, that's too bad.

Almost everyone gets labelled a troll when they are new and have an opinion. Either that or a sunshine and rainbows peddler...really you can't win on this site.

Another Power forward offer... I am pretty sure REACH Legends was SDW's team in High School.
Coast 2 Coast Hoops @Coast2CoastHoop11m
Xavier and Iowa State offered 2014 REACH Legends (MI) forward Justin Tillman this weekend.

Justin Tillman - Yahoo! Sports

I've been wondering if he may get an offer now for some time. A little thin and raw offensively but athletic and a great motor. One of those guys that you see on a mid-major kicking arse, so often, and wondering why he's not at a bigger school. Like every guy at WSU.

It does make me wonder where we stand with Abu but there may be little correlation.

I feel like this Tillman offer should have come 9 months ago. Better late than never I guess. Landing Johnson or AMA would be huge because of the amount of other interest they're getting. Time to get serious about plan B and C.

That was one of my first thoughts when I saw ISU offered Tillman. CFH hasn't been offering '14 scholarships since Macura and it was the Spring prior to that, thus the staff must have been pretty cofindent with their targets. Abu, Cunningham, and Jaylen Johnson have really been blowing up this month, getting more offers and have been moving up in the rankings. Guess well see...

I wouldn't read too much into it, although I doubt Abu comes to Iowa State. The last part of July is always busy with new offers and it's not really atypical for there to be a lull in offers between the AAU circuits in June and July. It's very possible that the coaches now value Tillman just as highly as say Abu, Johnson, and Cunningham and have therefore decided to offer him.

Make that our last 2 draft picks, with Brackins, ISU's highest-ranked recruit all time. I'd say ISU doesn't really have trouble getting bigs to come to Ames, just in recent years it's been a struggle. There was Godfrey, who would be a senior this year, but we all know how that ended. Plus Justin Hamilton was another not too long ago, but a defector due to wanting to play closer to home. All of these guys are within the last 5 years. I am frustrated by the recent miffs as well, but I'm sure we haven't seen the last big to ever commit to ISU at this point.
McD attracted big guys. CFH has more trouble.

This might be some time ago, but ESPN site had us on the list as offering forward Paul White. Don't hear him mentioned much. Any possible mutual interest in him?

True, he could attract them but couldn't keep players and certainly couldn't win with them in the B12.

I'll take Fred any day, who so far hasn't been able to sign a good HS big (true post), but is getting very good guards and getting us into the tourney.

Eventually, after stringing together 3-4 tourney appearances in 4 years, he'll land a stud big man, that likes to handle the ball ala Royce.

Does anyone think its sorta difficult to recruit big city kids (which alot of these recruits either live or 'some' aspire to live) to Ames? or state of Iowa in general? Just an honest question. Don't get me wrong, I love Ames, and when we get players here, I think they love it too. Some like 'small', while others don't. It's not like Stillwater, Waco, Lawrence, are big attraction cities, either, I wouldn't think, but maybe they're closer to hot spots, I'm not sure. And I also don't know what campuses have to offer that would sway them to fall in love with a place. Winning traditions and coaching staffs are still probably more what they look at first, though.

And the offers start to be extended...

Verbal Commits@VerbalCommits49m
Iowa State has offered 2015 Cape Henry (VA)/Boo Williams G Chris Clarke. (h/t @hatfieldsports) @Chris_Clarkee http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/chris-clarke …

Chris Clarke - Yahoo! Sports

Chris Clarke

highlights are attached to Clarke's 247 profile. Looks aggressive and athletic with defensive promise. Jump shot could use some work but he's a 2015 prospect with plenty of time to work on that.

Why isn't Georges Niang included when discussing Hoiberg's post recruits? He was a 4 star recruit and was being recruited as a post by every school on his list. It's not like he's strictly a face-up spacer either as he had one of the most developed repertoires of post moves I've ever seen from a freshman.
