JFC. I’m not sure what the worst part is. Maybe the selective timeline (5 years). But then again, maybe very specific wording of the criteria. But really, it’s the pollyanna-ish opinion that the Big 10 and SEC did absolutely no back room discussions through the process that gets me.

This is one of the worst spins I've ever seen about college sports.

This is Alex Jones successfully sued for a billion dollars level of intentional misinformation.

From the USA Today piece, that covers completely uncritically the negotiations between the B1G and SEC to schedule about one game per team per year between them in order to freeze out other conferences from the TV money race:

"But the last thing the Big Ten and SEC want is the optics of collusion."

LMAO.

Oh yeah, and there's a mention of going back to 8 game conference scheduling in the Big 10 as part of it. These clowns act like they own the sport.

Uh.. if you have to say that, it's probably collusion. The Big Ten and SEC continuing to destroy college football. What's new?

This would be worse for ISU and Big12 than a 20 team Premier league.

Only possible counter is to formally tie in with the ACC and any independents like UConn and just take over the NCAA tournament entirely. That's $1B annual, let's just take that from them. Sorry Kentucky.

His engagement would probably go up if he unblocked everyone who disagreed with him, but it would also just be him getting dunked on.

Sorry -- feels like its time to say it again:

Been saying it for years... all football programs not in the SEC or Big 10 need to band together, demand 100% equal revenue sharing, or threaten to break away.

If they call the bluff... so be it. A sperate league is where this eventually ends up anyway.

Who's going to broadcast their games if they try pulling this power move and break away? Couldn't the networks just turn around and say "Ok but if you break away good luck finding a media partner." ?

I just don't think all football programs not in the SEC or B1G have any kind of leverage in this. ESPN/FOX/NBC/CBS are calling the shots.

A streaming service would love to be the home of the new CFB league. To have enough content to be the home of the Big12/ACC rather than just a couple of games is a better deal for everyone. The TV networks would bid to keep the prices high. Cause there’s just not enough content in the P2 to fill ESPN’s timeslots.
 
Is it just me or has CBS quietly turned on the SEC? The last couple of weeks they have shown some love to the BIg 12 and thrown shade at SEC in their CFP projections. I am finding that a little interesting.

It’s still so weird to see B1G games on there. I think they want a piece of that XII Basketball option if Yormark breaks it into its own negotiation.

Given how the SEC treated them during their failed TV contract talks many years ago, I'm not surprised. It isn't in CBS interests as a business to promote the TV product of a competitor.

I do think the SEC made a mistake by selling everything to one network. It's hard for ESPN/ABC to make the 2nd/3rd legs of their tripleheaders feel as special as FOX/CBS/NBC make every game feel in their timeslots.

They have some leverage. And it’s because networks still need content. They also have some grounds for an antitrust lawsuit.
