Brett’s tweet didn’t really show the full context. The proposal would actually include all current FBS teams, realigning conferences, allowing for two divisions (with the groundwork for promotion, but not relegation).

I don’t think there’s any chance the SEC or Big 10 schools will sign on for this. The commissioners and conference staff certainly won’t.

This needs to be completely divorced from the universities

License the IP and go be a pro league

Why give context when you can just make people mad who believe everything that’s tweeted out. That’s how social media works!

Why would this leak and who seeks to benefit/who is negatively impacted from this information getting out there?

When that many people from that many different areas know there is no way to keep something secret but this is also an official press release.

Keep stocking up on that tinfoil CF fans! The conspiracy takes never get old

Do you think there will be an “official statement” from any of the involved parties?

I’m leaning towards a buzzword heavy, “exploring options in an ever changing media landscape through due diligence” message, if we get anything at all.

2% is being generous. There is almost zero reason the SEC or Big Ten would want to agree to this as it’s laid out
Exactly.

The SEC and Big 10 want to eliminate or relegate the rest of the sport to another division. It's very odd, but it's absolutely childish "you can't play in my tree fort because I'm cooler than you" type of thinking.

Their end goal is to **** everyone else over simply because they can. At this point, it seems evident that their goal is to ruin the sport for everyone else.

Thinking in terms of negotiation… is this potentially a play to set up a structured CFB landscape for everyone who’s not SEC/B1G?

I don’t see those two leagues agreeing to this either. Why split the pie more ways when you’ve got the largest pieces?

No idea because that idea of a structured landscape just isn’t really feasible.

Absolutely not. It would be the financial death of every AD outside of the P2 and they know it. I assume this is a desperate last attempt for something equitable, but what it's trying to be doesn't matter because it's DOA.

Yeah except it’s not and the other conferences being given multipule auto bids to future playoffs kinda disproves your point.

Do they want to remain the most powerful conferences while still keeping the fan bases of the others engaged in cfb, absolutely. But cutting off just reduces the marketplace

I’m not sure the SEC/B1G can throw the match on the whole thing or there’d be lawsuits across the board. You’re right - engagement across the board is critical. It’d be foolish to blow up the whole thing.

That said, I don’t think those leagues are doing things out of the goodness of their hearts (no conference is). Money talks.

100% not, they want as much power and control as possible while still keeping the other leagues involved and invested.

It’s why an actual super league won’t happen (for the foreseeable future) and why the auto bid idea will eventually go through

There's absolutely no way this would yield more money for the current SEC/B1G teams unless the other schools agreed to take teeny tiny pieces of the pie. I just don't see it.
The NFL and NBA disagree. One of the catalysts to those entities exploding media dollars was negotiating as a whole entity with multiple media partners.
