I didn’t really get to watch any of Mexico’s group games. Are they legit? They look legit
Their passing has been crisp and they've been very solid defensively. They haven't been a typical El Tri team that slow plays the second half when they get a lead, so that's been refreshing.

They haven't been challenged too much yet, though. If they end up facing England in Mexico City, that environment will be nuts. England's size and offense will be on display. But if Mexico plays with swagger, their offense should challenge England, too. (Provided England doesn't **** the bed before they get there of course)

Playing at home has been huge for Mexico. I hope their fans will turn on them if they play super conservative. It makes me happy.

Let's be real, its a very average Mexico team that right now is riding the benefit of arguably the best homefield advantage in world football. No matter what team they have, they've always been so so hard to beat at Estadio Azteca.

I actually think England is reasonably beatable for them in that stadium. They won't be favorites of course, but I think England is a little vulnerable. I just don't think they've got that much quality and it'll show when they aren't in Mexico City.

Am definitely jealous we don't have something that really rivals that for a homefield advantage. I will say it's a good thing that our potential Round of 16 match would be in Seattle. That's probably the best homefield the USMNT has going at the moment outside of Columbus, which is only 20,000 seater so not an option for World Cup.

I see France route to the quarterfinals is Sweden and Paraguay. Wonder if it’s rigged for them like people say for Argentina.

I don’t think Paraguay is going to be the gimme you seem to think it will be. They do have the defense to make a mess out of things in front of their goal.

They haven’t given up a goal yet. Playing with lots of confidence. Assuming they win tonight and England gets past DR Congo, Mexico-England at Azteca looks like a must-watch.
Mexico is very mid, but their home field advantage is elite. 85,000 fans right on top of you, at over 7,000 ft elevation in an endurance sport. Much of their squad plays in Mexico at elevation. England is on upset alert but if Mexico wins I could easily see them getting thumped by multiple goals in Miami.

Paraguay can't win the individual battles against France like they did against Germany imo. Germany had no cutting edge outside of Musiala whereas France has it in spades.

It was a miracle that Paraguay beat Germany. They don’t have enough offense to go head to head with most teams lest in the tournament. I think France gets by them easily, which is unfortunate because I want as many great matches as we can get.

Watching France Sweden highlights. Who can beat France?

They'll get two pretty different tests in the next two rounds. Paraguay will try every trick in the book to muddy it up, and Morocco will have the talent to put some goals in.

But yeah, I'd take them as 2 goal favorites over anyone with the way their playing.
