Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Cornell is supposed to be upper New York and they want to give off a rural vibe (more of what I meant when I said Midwest), but come across as the band camp dude who accidentally ended up at football camp.

First they have to say Cornell at Ithaca and not Mount Vernon, Iowa. I had started the app process then saw all the hoops you had to jump through and decided that I was probably going to ISU anyhow.
My man, no one outside of rural Iowa thinks Mt Vernon when they hear Cornell.

It’s an Ivy League. I don’t know how old you are but Cornell vs ISU is just an incredible comparison. I know Cornell is the easiest Ivy to get into but but it’s still an Ivy and this is just an incredible take.

That’s a different question

Many good schools aren’t P2 material given TV ratings the foremost criteria

As for P4, they will soon be in the P4 unless the Big 12 can kill off the ACC when FSU and Miami go to P2. ACCN alone will get them the nod
USF isn’t a value add for ACCN in Tampa even if FSU and Miami stay in the ACC. And ACCN will no longer exist if the top brands in the ACC leave.

Let’s say I’m probably older than you and have dealt with enough businesses of various levels/sizes to know that generally Cornell people come across as thinking they are smarter and better and most just give them a nice smirk and fix their mess.

Lol. I was in Boulder once tailgating CU/Oregon game, I was wearing a Simpson College cap that was red and had a gold interlocked "SC" on it. Got so many comments and questions about why a Southern Cal fan was there.

Nobody's confusing Mt. Vernon Cornell with Ivy Cornell. Lol.

No reading glasses for you tonight?

ESPN should kill off the ACC when top brands leave early for P2, rolling leftovers into Big 12. I’ve been telling you that since 2021

Whether ESPN does that is yet to be seen. Stanford, Cal, ND and other ACC have a faction that want to use the exit money to hold together past when the Big 12 deal ends. Add 4C and a few others. USF is higher than even some current P4 due to ACCN implications

Of course, just like in the PAC situation, they’ll also be backstabbing each other to get a P2 invite themselves. And this all goes out the window if ND leaves or the P2 add more than 6.

Yormark will need to sow discord and get ACC schools to see the advantages of being free agents in 2031 rather than wait until 2036 in the ACC

Hey I took my daughter to a Visit at Cornell... College. (Mt Vernon)

It is actually a really nice campus, and I thought the block system was really interesting, it allows for some interesting opportunities that is impossible or difficult at places with traditional schedules.

I thought it was a good option, if she didn't get a 2 year full ride at another school before transferring to ISU to finish her Bachelors and Masters (only 1.5 semesters left).

I would recommend anyone who has kids that are looking for a smaller college or a different system to take a visit to Cornell.

Its nice... I wonder if New York's Cornell is as nice... :jimlad:

Without them we probably wouldn't have cabbage. At least not modern cabbage.

Honestly I was shocked when I looked at this ranking and saw them at #1.

Iowa State Ranks 4th according to it.

I guess there are a lot of different types of Ag though Because a couple at the top of that list dont scream AG school to me.

Again, there are no ACCN advantages or implications for USF because ACCN is dead once any of their existing top brands leave. And they sure as hell won’t be selected ahead of ISU for the ACC or a new conference as you previously suggested if the B12 somehow blows up.

Yes, we know you hope the ACC is dead once top brands leave

My comment is clearly on USF’s chance at P4 in the event the ACC survives 4-6 schools leaving. That means ACCN survives as well. The probability that occurs is far from 0%

If the ACC survives and has lost its Florida schools, the ACC will very much be interested in adding a Florida school.

I understand why you don’t want to respond to that though. Ignorance is a bliss. It would not be great for the Big 12 or Iowa St. Much better to have the ACC be removed

The ACC may survive. But the term P4 will not. If the top ACC teams left, it will be a P3. And at that point, it may be just the P2 and everyone else. But the Big12 would be alone in that not a P2, but not a G5/6 type either.

Only if the Big 12 adds leftover ACC

If not, the P4 term may no longer exist, but it won’t be because it is viewed as a P3

If the ACC loses 4 schools, but 13 schools remain, plus ND deal, it won’t be viewed as materially different than the Big 12.

Say they lose FSU, Clemson, UNC, and Duke to SEC. There are far too many P5s left to be treated like the PAC.

Say those 4 plus Miami and UVa leave. That’s still 10 P5s plus recent CFP at-large in SMU, and ND. The Big 12 isn’t separating itself from that conference.

That’s why it’s critical consolidation to one M conference occurs.

Much better for the P2 to splurge on adding 6+ more schools, or 5 ACC and ND. The best outcome is for the BIG to add ND and academic brands. Make it feasible for the Big 12 to add enough for ACC dissolution

If you want to stay in Ag academics Cornell, UC-Davis and a whole bunch of public schools (ISU included) are all just fine
Regional differences aside they are all just fine.

The problem with that argument is that Texas/OU had somewhere to go. Where is Ohio State going to go that's going to pay them any more money than they're making right now?

I expect that they'll do CFP and NCAA Tournament distributions differently after 2030 but I'll be shocked if media revenue changes. Remember, the 'power' schools in that league still only get one vote.
They already said they wanted to have a conversation to screw Iowa and the rest of the low tier members of the conference.

I think a Big 12/ACC merger after the Big 10 and SEC pick the top ACC brands is inevitable.

That league will get a few teams in the playoffs, be part of the NCAA tournament, and make a lot less money. They won't be locked out of the future, but they'll be at a permanent economic disadvantage.

Which honestly, most of them have been fighting their entire existence.

Pour one out for the SCORE Act....

I agree there will be a consolidation to one power conference outside the P2

But there are a few ways that can get executed. ACC dissolution? Big 12 dissolution? Both ultimately undergoing dissolution?

If 6 or more schools leave ACC for P2, I hope ESPN lowers the ACC rate to a point that 8 join the Big 12. But ND and Calford are a strong faction working against that. Not impossible they get espn to pick the ACC

What is the benefit to the B12 for a straight merge if the brands are gone. Pick who you want and leave the rest
