Curious how everyone will react to the game this weekend given the following scenarios:

A) We lose to Toledo but are competitive - "I'm happy with being competitive" or "We should never lose to a MAC or mid-major team".

B) Beat Toledo by 1-7 points - "I"m happy with the win" or "We should beat mid-majors by 2 or more touchdowns".

C) Beat Toledo by 8-16 points - "This is where we should be" or "We should have won by more".

OR

D) Beat Toledo by 17+ - "This is where we should be and nothing else is acceptable".

To me, at this point, a win is a win is a win. A lot of mid-majors have played the Power 5 schools tough this year; however, MIzzou doubled up Toledo early if I remember correctly.

We are 1-4. Any type, and I mean any type of win, at this point - is very good.

I am not sure why we are debating a reaction tho to a hypothetical event. I thought summer only brought out these types of discussions.

At any rate, hypothetically if we lose, I'll just set the entire city of Ames on fire with a protection barrier around Hilton. Is that good enough?

Basically, we have to win this game or confidence is lost on this team. How we win can be debateable

I've pretty much given the staff a pass thus far. We're young, banged up, tough schedule, new staff.. etc.

If we lose to Toledo something is seriously wrong.

Edit: I think Option C will end up being correct. Something like 31-17 we will win.

Remember when we started out 14-0 at home against NDSU? And then proceeded to score no more points the rest of the game (and I don't think we even crossed the 50 again)? With our last score coming 1 minute into the 2nd quarter?

Lets just not do that.

According to my totally untested formula in creating betting lines for cfb games, we are favored by 4.5...

So I'll take anything.

Just win.

I have supported the team and coaching staff, but it's time to start winning some of these games. The schedule gets a little easier, still optimistic for 5 win season.

Toledo, KU, TT and WV

The fact you included "I'm happy with being competitive" as an option for A, says a lot about our program.

if we lose to toledo on homecoming.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Would be happy with any win, but happier with a win by double digits. A loss would be pretty devastating.

The only reason I have any shred of faith in CPR at this point is because we have Wally and Mangino. A loss to Toledo and I have zero faith, none. Some of the sunshine pumpers may even fall off the wagon if we lose.

We better not lose...

We need to win, and more than the point differential we need to play sound football in doing so. Then repeat 5 or 6 more times for there to be the beginnings of hope CPR has learned. In reality it probably would mean Mangino is starting to put his imprint on the program, and the improvement would stop when he leaves, which could by the start of 2016. Hopefully Wally coaches until he is 80.

You forgot one more option. We already know some of the Negative Nancies will complain even if we win by double digits. They'll say "beating Toledo doesn't prove anything, fire CPR".
