Well, she did say "Call Me Right Away!" and provided her number.

These things amuse me so I looked it up. "Office" is the post office in Blaine and number is a landline in Stillwater. Still could be worse, not a landline in China or Russia.

Either one are close enough Pants will hit it.

A couple weeks ago, on our way back home from Wisconsin, we passed by the town of Plainfield. I pointed out to the vixen that Plainfield was the hometown of Ed Gein, the inspiration for such films as "Psycho", "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", and "Silence of the Lambs".

I thought she'd at least want to see his house (which burned to the ground shortly before his trial). All I got was a nonplussed expression and one word: "So?"

I had lived in Wi for quite a while and hadn't heard of Ed then Jeffrey Dahmer happened, then I heard of Ed Gein. They've had their share of crazies. Nearest thing to that in Iowa might be the Villisca ax murders, but I think that was one family not strangers. Kind of crazy they took his car and some other possessions around the country like a carnival side show for a while.

Never mind, I was in the wrong state.

WI has those kinds of things and also the nooks an crannies where various mob members would go to hide out during prohibition.

There's also said to be a serial killer in LaCrosse that's to blame for random drownings.

I think he sees his nieces more often than we see our kids. Of course, it doesn't help much that the oldest is in Washington and the youngest is in Delaware...

There used to be a joke my dad would tell. What's Ed Gein's phone number? OI812.

Actually, he only killed one person. Some clerk or waitress at a cafe IIRC. Shot her with a 22 rifle. When they arrested him, he made sure they knew he hadn't stolen any money. But I guess he robbed a lot of graves and liked to wear women's skin. Supposedly they found a nose in a coffee cup and a heart boiling in a pot.

Frustration runs rampant.
DMACC still taking forever, because why not?
Called the Ames Library about my application for a PT job there. It's been filled.
Slid right into a Poli Sci thing to fill the time, but it doesn't qualify for financial aid. No go.

The Interdisciplinary people are apparently the gold standard of all educators, and they've been pissed since the second I asked if a PhD could satisfy the GRE requirement, and brought out the old "Well, you might not finish" argument.

Of course I might not. I plan to be gone. Half of grad students don't finish.
At the same time, I need to be doing something.

So frustrating. Degree is opening a ton of doors, but none of them will pay off concretely until next summer.
I didn't think it was supposed to be this difficult. This is just stupid hard.

Holy mother of mary, just got a price on an electric cordless trimmer for basic commerical level (what I will need). $650 and it may still not have a good enough battery for my run time. That would force a second battery at $200 a pop. Those gas ones are looking better.
