One of my best memories in a theatre is watching the OG Jurassic Park for the first time, and the scientists are in the Jeep and encounter the Bronty. You know, the part that ends with Hammond profoundly intoning "Dr. Grant; my dear Dr. Sattler. Welcome... to Jurassic Park."

The sweeping chorus of the John Williams theme, coupled with the huge thump of the creatures forelegs landing on the ground, and the cry of the creature. Man, that was too much for me. Greatest moment ever in movies, imo.

Somewhere along the way, the movies have lost the magic for me. :( Even though I enjoyed Jurassic World; it went above my expectations for sure.

Quality flick. Obviously nothing will compare to the original (still one of my all time favorite movies) but I would rank it as second. Ranks would go: 1, 5, 4, 3, 2 for me. Very much a flip of some of the other movies where you’re cheering for the dinosaurs. One of those old tropes where “man is worse than man-eating dinosaurs” but I think they played it really well.

Obviously had some clear cut flaws, but glad I went to it. Had a good time. Some really good throwbacks to the original movie as well.

Dear <NAME>:

Thank you for your interest in <JOBTITLE> at Velo University. We have narrowed down our search to finalists for the position. Unfortunately due to the high number of extremely qualified candidates your application was not selected.

Thanks for your interest in Velo University. Your application will be kept on file for one calendar year.

Cordially,

Velo University

That took me all of about 2 minutes, proofreading included.

If finalists are later rejected they deserve a call rather than a letter anyway...

Yeah, it's easy. You don't even have to spell out that apps on file will never be consulted again. It's just quietly left either way.

@cyrevkah it’s not a T-Rex, but there’s definitely a chase scene with the girl. It’s a Speilberg movie, so I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say the kid is fine, since kids are always safe in his movies, but I can understand the difficulty of explaining that to Z as well.

Think of the scene in the first movie of the raptor chase in the kitchen. Very similar to that.

Did they get the win?

Lost 13-19. Their batters wanted chest high and for some reason or pitcher obliged, and they were tagging them deep. Fielding was actually pretty solid. When a team gets 19 hits off the pitcher and advances a couple dropped ball third strikes. Not much the girls could do.

Catcher said her arm hurt so she didn’t want to throw and challenge any runners or steal attempts. It has hurt since February and had 3 months of physical therapy. The few times I’ve seen her throw down, she has never thrown to the same spot so I think she just doesn’t want to throw.

I don't think you mean what I've always thought this phrase meant. If you do mean what I think then you were at a hockey game, not a softball game.

We have always called throws to second on steal second throw downs. You are supposed to throw low (down) to make an easier tag. Every place I’ve been Around has used that.

Which is why in little league while the pitcher is warming up and the ump or pitcher are ready the catcher calls balls in, coming down.

Thank you. You can tell I don't know my dinosaurs very well. : )

Not suggesting it is wrong, I have always just heard that phrase as a euphemism for fight. I haven't really played softball, though and never pitched or caught the very short time I played baseball.

@cyrevkah the scene is maybe 20 seconds long. If she really wants to go, or you and @CycloneErik really want to take her just let me know and I can give you a heads up of when the scene comes up so you could take her to get popcorn or candy or something during it.

Coaching issue. You shouldn't field a catcher who can't throw.

If I was coach, JV catcher would be in. (Current one most likely would quit). I don’t care if a parent is on the school board. She is whiny and her dad is on the coaches non stop. Pitcher throws a hissy fit if she doesn’t get the catcher she wants also. Her dad coaches other sports and is a PITA to anybody who challenges him.

I failed. I was trying to find the Peanuts comic where Charlie Brown tells Schroeder that he doesn't have to keep bringing the ball to the mound after every pitch. Schroeder replies that if they saw him throw it to the mound they would know that he can't throw to second.

@BoxsterCy can probably find it.
