In a way it’s a generational thing, but mostly becaue the millennial generation CAN’T do it. They’re strapped with massive debt from the get-go because it’s harder and harder to find a job without a college degree yet college education costs have skyrocketed at a rate significantly higher than inflation and then when they do graduate with $50k of debt, the jobs they CAN get are entry level minimal pay jobs because boomers refuse to retire so they get stuck in ****** jobs with no upward mobility but they have to keep it because of the massive cost of healthcare. A lot of people in our generation CAN’T have children because they literally can’t afford it.

If people waited until they could truly afford it, the world population would be about 1% of what it is.

We had to replace a softener and dishwasher in the last couple of weeks so the plumber has been at our house a bunch lately.

Our plumber has a daughter that is the same age as my younger daughter. I took my daughter and a couple of friends to the volleyball game on Friday. The plumber's daughter came and sat by my daughter. So, as it turns out, I ended up sitting by plumber's wife while he was at my house.

Anyway, if you need the name of a plumber, I can give you his contact info.

Got someone here already. They were just finishing up something in STLP so were close by.

What is the TCs? 2 MM people? That would be 20k. Your hometown would be 300 area. A lot of smart people would not have been born.

Filed under FML. Woke up at 6-something to a noise I thought was maybe the furnace failing again, sort of a roaring sound. Nope, it was the sound of water from the laundry room. Go downstairs and walk into 2" inches of water in the hall and laundry room. Old valve that used to hook up to a long gone water softener had burst. Water was SHOOTING out of this thing not just running out. Want a ******* mess. So now have no water and need a plumber. Gonna be sorting and tossing ruined stuff this morning. ****.

Worst thing that got wet was a bunch of old albums. Most were ones CWW#2 left here. Don't think she coming back for them. Trying to dry those.

Just tossed my old landscape architect drawings from college and early career. I needed a good house cleaning anyway but now garbage can is totally full.

Listen, I won’t go much further than this because we’re dangerously teetering on The Cave content right now, but people that say “oh, well if you wait until you can afford it, you’ll never have kids!” are actually being just as irresponsible as the people having kids that know they can’t afford it. They’re actively encouraging people that know they can’t have and support kids to go ahead and do it anyway. This leads to a lot of bad conditions for families, children and large parts of our society as it is. And, quite frankly, the same people that say that tend to be the same people that are against social financial support of those families when they are struggling.

To use CG as an example, they did it right. I’m sure they’ll both agree children are very much expensive, but at least CG and DH sat down, budgeted and planned for the costs of children before doing so. So, hats off to you, CG! (Though, personally, I still will never understand the desire to have a screaming, pooping machine in your house voluntarily.)

Sorry. Can't bring the garbage here. With the garage being drywalled, my trash can is completely full plus, I have 4 additional bags, plus a pile of drywall scraps that I need to get to the landfill in the back of a Traverse or borrow a truck and garbage day is still two days away.

Budgeting and planning? What am I, investing in a 401k? You just bang one time without a condom and find out that your boys are super swimmers and then wing it after that. Worked for me. Stop being a snowflake.

That whole Amazon deal about building a new headquarters was complete BS. He said some of the big considerations were a place where congestion and affordable housing wouldn't be a problem so he picks Long Island and Arlington Va.?

Ok, one last thing, but this isn’t Cave-like.

Keep in mind when child-less couples say it’s about how expensive kids are, it’s often not at all about cost. It’s a common thing for people that can’t conceive or have been trying to conceive but haven’t been able to, or have conceived but had miscarriages to say because it’s a lot easier to say and try to move on from than explaining all of that. So try to keep that in mind before giving them **** about that answer.
