Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

Another healthy checkup for the Z monster.
Ate cereal through a lot of it, befuddled their eye exam, and got a flu shot without crying.

Then we left the cereal there, walked back in for that, and stopped at McDonald's for breakfast.
Basically, someone is eating the morning away. We'll make the growth charts yet.

Well, no. No, we won't.

I used to know a very large family that had a whole menagerie including among other things goats, peacocks, a donkey and of course a black bear.

Peacocks and donkeys and bears

Toddler appropriate movie? Z watched Toy Story's Halloween one fine and then some ghost patrol thing. I didn't catch the title.

I would say not, maybe for 5-6 and above. Older kids and adults for sure since it got the messages and enough plot and clever stuff to keep us adults entertained. Might be a little scary in parts and some of the "lessons" (bullying and stereotyping) will go over the head of really young kids.

I know there are some legal gurus in here and just plain wise people so suggestions on this problem would be appreciated:

Remember my old dbag roommate I constantly bitched about last year? Yeah well the rent deposit for our apartment came in the mail. He let the other roommate and I know that he deposited it and that he had received half of the check. Proceeded to give us our half and told us he'd give us the other half when it cleared.

That was 3+ weeks ago. Haven't heard from him since. We've tried calling and texting him multiple times to no receive no answer.

The property management has told us that the check had all three of our names on it and for him to deposit it the check he'd need all three signatures. The other roommate and I never signed the check yet he was still able to deposit it. Leads me to believe he either forged our signature or someone at the bank ****** up.

Definitely not a lawyer (and I just can't write IANAL without giggling), but if you know his bank, I would think you could go in there with an ID and let someone know that one of their customers deposited money illegally into his account. If the bank is at fault, I would imagine they would try to make things right to avoid further issues. If your ex-roommate is at fault, they should be compelled to try to make things a little uncomfortable for him.

If that doesn't work, fly CG down there and rough him up.

my first thought was similar. Does the landlord know the check number and date of deposit? And is there anyway to find out which bank it is.

@CloneLawman

I do not feel comfortable giving advice for this one. If you actually want to do something, here's a link to some attorneys who might be able to help. http://www.iowafindalawyer.com/results?ReadForm&c2=Story&a=Tenant/Landlord

Also sometimes the law schools have clinics which can help provide advice.
This is the number for the clinic at University of Iowa: 319-335-9023
Here's the contact info for the law clinics at Drake: http://www.drake.edu/law/clinics-centers/clinic/

and yeah, calling the bank is probably a great idea too and should probably be your first step

and here's info on small claims because your case would probably be a small claims case:

The 3yr old here loves it, I have it on hold to pick up this afternoon at the library. There is one or two jump out of your seat scenes. Although today I told her I was going to pick it up (we literally just returned it Wednesday) and she said she the "savage" scenes (some of the animals are going "savage") would give her nightmares. Pretty sure that was an act, she has watched it 100x now.

got mah new laptop. I start copying. Take a look at the drive. WTF. It's the same size. WTF.

I point it out. Hmm that's odd. Oh, it's because they imaged the previous smaller drive and so it put it onto the new one in the same format and size. I can only get access to all the extra space by setting up a new drive that is not named C.

IDK if I said this in my previous post, but the whole reason I can't just use an external hard drive is I have a ton of data that must sit on and be read from C. So I'm like no, that's not going to work. That defeats the entire purpose of me getting a larger main drive. They're like the only way to fix is to reformat the whole drive. I'm like yeah that's fine.

And it is, because I'd only been copying data for like 5 minutes. It's a pain for them because now they have to do all the setting up, again. Not my problem. I put this into emails.

Have I mentioned how I love switching computers?

So I haven't been in many county jails, but Dodge County has a very nice jail. Just in case any of you were thinking of getting a bit too rowdy in Juneau, Wisconsin
