Just saw a story about a newborn bison in Yellowstone that had to be euthanized. Apparently some tourists thought he looked cold so they somehow got him and put him in their SUV to warm up. Obviously he doesn't know how to hunt or care for himself and was now separated from his mom so he probably was not going to live anyway.

I'm a little surprised the mom Bison didn't put one of them in the hospital. I would have thought that bison cows would be quite protective of their calves.

see that's what I thought too. Taking a calf from a wild herd? Shoot, we've needed to have a skidloader on hand to get a calf away from a non-bio mom. One of them bruised a couple of my brother's ribs one time.
