00, I've got a friend that went down and shot some he said it was pretty fun. Had his processed conventionally when he got home. They truly are a true pest down there tearing up crops, parks and anything else they want to eat. He shot his out of a blind, but I think the pro hunters (getting paid by the state/landowner to get rid of them) take them from a helicopter.

Tasty? I'm not gonna geek out over the hunting part, but if I can do a good thing for the environment(taking an invasive species) while getting a pork fix (instead of thru the normal food chain which isn't ideal), I might get into that. Wipe them out and have yummy pork.

GT/other Texas/southern folks: ever had wild boar? Not much of a hunter, just from inexperience, but knowing the trouble with them down there as an invasive species, I'm thinking my perhaps unnatural love of pork fat, I could be a weapon in this important fight.
I've never had any, but there is a restaurant (Love & War in Texas is the name of the restaurant) here that serves wild boar, quail, and venison sausage on their menu. Been there a few times and they have great food but I've never tried it.

I'm gonna need a full report by friday. Sourcing 30-06's in my other tab. Of course, perhaps I should wait...they may well issue guns as you get off the plane in Texas.

I've done some redneck hog hunting here with some friends. Never had much luck, except we were able to trap a gaggle of them in a cage once. They were all pretty small, except one maybe 40-pounder. Gave some away to people who wanted them and dispatched of the rest.

I've never tried eating it, but I've heard it's pretty good. They say the smaller to medium sized ones taste the best. Big old boars have a wild game taste and the meat is more tough.

I guess I should mention that I survived my trip back to Texas on Saturday. Encountered freezing rain through parts of Kansas, but the roads were treated well and I didn't have any issues. Your butt starts to pucker a bit when the car says it's 26F outside and it starts moderately raining and freezing to your windshield, right as people blow by you because you decide it is a good idea to slow down a bit. The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful and a bit rainy. Not nearly as much rain as I was expecting to encounter, thankfully.

Now I've got a jam-packed week and a half ahead of me with school. 3 projects due this week and finals next week.

I'm getting drunk next weekend.

Are all of our Twin City friends making it through this snowpocalypse.
I took mass transit in today. Everybody else is late. I believe that I made the correct choice. I slid into the intersection at a red light on the way to the transit station before traffic even, really got going.

Also, nice use of snowpocalypse.
