To be fair I called him a Top-10 quarterback. That isn't the same thing as Top 3, but it's a hell of a lot closer than most would have guessed. Of course, I'm a Vikings fan, so I'm not the model of objectivity here either.

If he stays healthy and keeps playing at a high level I would gladly take him for another year.

that's just it. I've been a diehard Vikings fan since about 1986, and because of it, I had a really hard time getting my mind around the fact that Brett Favre was going to be their QB. I just couldn't do it. Now, here we are, and I find myself cheering him on. It's such an alien feeling. He's still not my favorite player on the team. That would be AP, Jared Allen, or EJ Henderson, but he's in much better standing than he was at the start of the season.
YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!!! And Vikings fans need to get over it! Your team is 10-1! Favre is having one of his best seasons EVER! He is an MVP contender. Nearly 3,000 yards, 24 TDs, 112 rating, and ONLY 3 picks! Sage could not do this.
Peyton has 3,400 yards, 24 TDs, 102 rating, and 11 PICKS!!!

Favre is playing like he's 28...not 40. It's crazy.
If the Viking offensive line can continue to keep him upright, who knows how long this guy can play.
Anyone see the rocket he launched at the poor receiver yesterday? The pass went incomplete because the ball was moving so fast, the receiver had no time to get his hands up and it pelted him in the chest. Favre still has it, period.
I wish I could pull of Jared Allen's hair do. :biglaugh:

Oh...and I think Packer fans/players can shut up over their whining about Favre calling this team the best he's ever played on. I firmly believe it to be fact. Even if this team does not win the title, they're better than any of the Packer teams from the 90s. Rice and Harvin are deadly. The duo of Peterson and Taylor is something I simply would not want to face. They rank in the top 10 defensively. Best kick returner based on average yards per return...5th best punt returner.
That is the key, the play of the o-line. They have been very good so far this year.
As a life-long Packer fan, I've got to admit it makes me sick. Troy Aikman's points about Favre making those around him better (Shiancoe, Rice, etc.) are true. I will make this opinion comment though; Favre is making the most of his opportunity to be a great team-mate in Minnesota. He wasn't a good franchise citizen in either Green Bay (last several years) or New York, so his image was in need of rehabilitation. Those who started this thread had every reason to believe he'd be a divisive force in Minnesota, especially with the Childress courting and skip of training camp.....
yes...the millions he raised for charity/how he was a quality rep off the field really hurt the Packers. Have to keep apart his fued with Thompson from everything else.
Once double M and T are long gone....the Packers will be erecting a statue of Favre in front of Lambeau to honor the greatest Packer of them all.

But in reality, I think Sid Rice has developed into one of my favorites this year. I thought he had the talent, but something wasn't going off. Well, it's going off now. I also LOVE Percy Harvin. I knew he was a play maker, but I didn't expect his hard-nosed, selfless attitude. It's almost like he enjoys getting drilled out there.
In what way? The fact that he could not make up his mind whether he wanted to play or not? Well, that happened this year and the Vikings are a fluke play away from being undefeated.
The cast of players is far better this year than it was in any of his past few seasons (as I noted earlier, I believe it to be better than any season, but that's more debatable). Favre has made them look even better.
People want to put all of the Jets collapse last season on Favre. Well look, here are the same Jets collapsing again. Look at Cleveland and Mangini is still struggling to be a head coach. Did Favre play well down the stretch? No. Was he healthy? No. Were guys around him making plays? No.
In GB, the talent just was not getting upgraded and Favre didn't like it. Ted was content to sit on his hands with personnel but had no problem making staff changes.
I see no reason to believe Favre was a poor teammate when he was with any of his past teams. The guy has wavered on decisions and it's frustrating, but his reputation is in no way need of repair.
The long pass to Rice was a thing of beauty. Perfectly thrown ball to the outside, either Rice would get it by turning his shoulder or no one would. Rice makes a great play on the ball and it's first and goal.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, most of which I'd debate. Even so, it has nothing to do with the impact he's made on this season's Viking squad...
I did think the comments regarding Favre getting the Wilf's a new stadium were a little over the top...
This Vikings team is scary good, but still at this point to call them better than some of those teams is wrong.
'96 Packers: Super Bowl champs. Ranked #1 in the league in team offense AND defense. Led the league in scoring. Led the league in punt return in yards, tds, and yards per return.
Both sides are at fault. Favre held the entire organization hostage the last few years there. I would argue it's harder to build a team not knowing who your starting QB is going to be the entire offseason, and what veteran leadership you may or may not have.
