Only problem with that theory is that Peters was hurt vs. K State. My bet is he would've played and started some at LB had he been healthy too. But Knott had been ahead of Peters, however Peters was pushing him.

Yeah, but what school name was written across his chest for those few snaps? If it was IOWA STATE, there' s no chance.
He's already used his redshirt. Thus, no medical redshirt.
And unless he is injured again, a 6th year is unlikely.
I'd be happy if he just stays healthy, has a monster year, and is off to the pros.
This is pretty bad news considering there is very little experience on the field in our starting listed linebackers.
I think our defense will be somewhere in between what the pessimists and optimists think. We'll have a decent defense, but not world beaters.
At the Spring game I was impressed with Jaynor Jones and Demond Tucker. Both are players at this level. The kid from Alburnett is a plugger between the tackles but not enough speed to turn the corner in D-1. Our RB's at the Spring game were not an inspiring group. they did not move the pile so to speak.
It may be years before we are a running team. Having Senor Sam means this will be a passing year.
Seems to me that this is what the vast majority here believe...I certainly do. The goal here is getting to decent...mediocre...from absolutely horrible. I think that's attainable, many here do not. We'll know in a couple of months =)
Yeah, I'm not sure how much improvement we'll see defensively, but it cannot possibly be as bad as last year.... no way. I don't even know what worse than last year would even look like?
As it was, OU was running every play and their RB's weren't even getting touched until they were 8 yds downfield or more. I had never seen a defense look that pathetic at the college level in my life.
So, IMO, it will be improved, but it remains to be seen by how much? I think Demond Tucker will help us quite a bit. And I like our starting DE's.... they actually have Big 12 size and speed for once.
LB will likely be an issue, but guys like Jones and Northrup at least are very athletic and fast, albeit small. I love Peters' attitude and how he plays with reckless abandon too. I think some of that will rub off on others. The key will be Harris IMO. He's a big unknown right now. If he is the real deal, I think the LBs could be average instead of horrible.
I like the starting corners and safeties, but after that it's pretty slim pickings really. There are some really young guys there that appear to have bright futures, but hopefully we won't be counting on them this year much.
I've only seen him play in the spring game, but his praises seem to be high. If Burnham and George are giving him props, I'll lean towards him being a good linebacker.
The fact that anyone is trying to play up our front 7 as having depth or returning quality experience is just mind blowing. Do people not remember how teams, nearly every single team, ran over us like we were D3? I just can't even fathom it. Sure some of these guys started but someone had to, the staff didn't have a above average player in the front 7.

After reading this thread, it's clear most of yall will be in for a big disappointment this season. I swear some of yall think we have an Alabama type defense. With our LB's, we will have the worst run D in the Big12. OU will decide how many rushing yards they wanna put up against us because we won't be able to stop their run game.
I see everyone talking about how we have some experience on defense now. I don't know how that's a positive. I would rather have a freshman with talent and no experience than our guys with their "experience". The only "experience" our defense has, is missing tackles and giving up crazy amounts of yards.
Our best player on D is probably an undersized JUCO DT who has never played a down of D1 football. I think that says it all.
