Post-game thread - ISU vs. Iowa

im shocked to see thats his FG percentage. Just seems like he misses everything i guess

I was too because you are right, it seems like he misses shots all the time. I think its because even though he makes 4 of 5 easy buckets, that 1 miss really stands out.

I understand McD wanting to be classy and pull the power, but at this point we should be dickheads and just floor it. Its a double-edge, because you dont want to injure your best players in the closing minutes, but we need to send a message to everyone now. The bottom of the bench can wait.

That is what I said or meant. I think Mac should have put all the staters back in after Iowa got it under 10.

I like DG but I just don't see him "learning" how to finish. That's just a skill you have or don't have at this point. He's a good player but probably needs to always think pass first in any break or driving opportunity. To his credit he does make some very very nice passes.

19-2 was what the other poster put out there. It seemed that bad when I was watching.

Agreed. We won, big deal, we had better win this game, Iowa is awful, not athletic, and not quick. They were still able to score in the paint, and out-rebound us on our home floor. I saw the same ISU team stand on offense and get out rebounded again, I fear for what might happen once Big XII play starts.

Yeah, Big XII. But, what about Bradley, Houston and Duke? Yikes! Iowa shot about 46%, I think - Wuith our depth and athleticism, we should have held them under 40%. The killer is that they beat us 44-40 in the second half on our own floor - in spite of our athletic depth. Re: rebounding - we shoot a lot of long J's with nobody under the basket. If Dendy shoots another 3 - coach should make him wash uniforms for a week.

Good things: We made way more free throws than they attempted (even though our FT% was not good - in the 60's), and we shot pretty well from the floor.

I feel bad for Dominique Buckley, he's likely gone to transfer after this season. He seems like he's a poor man's DG (i.e. floor general, doesn't make a lot of mistakes) with a better 3 point shot and less creating ability. With DeMarcus Phillips coming in, I think the writing is on the wall for DB. Seems like a good kid too.

oh boy what a long season it will be. Worst team in the Big 10 and we have a close one at home. Check the oil, grease the gears this car needs a tune up. Something is very wrong to have this much talent and only win it by 10. Life as a Cyclone I guess.
Did you happen to know who we were playing? This is a rivalry game. Throw out all the records, the previous games and the odds.
Watch the last minute of the game. DG is running time off the clock and EIU is just standing there watching. We run the 35 seconds off and then they hit a 3 which we are gonna lay off them because we are up by 13 and dont want to have a stupid foul to stop the clock. It looked like EIU was gonna let us run it out and then they changed their mind.
For the rest of you whiners out there, WOW!

EIU misses 15 pointers and gets 9 O rebounds. They miss 30 shots total. We missed 20 shots and got 5 O rebounds. All in all I dont see how we got pounded on the boards. The 3 point rebound is hard to figure but I guess there are people a lot smarter than me that can see how badly we got outrebounded, outplayed outcoached. Nice to see the faithfull letting the players know how much they appreciate their effort out there. They have to be just bursting with pride.

So what you are saying is it is hard to get O rebounds when you make more shots than the other team.

Agreed. No minutes last night. I'm begining to wonder if he'll be back for the 2nd semester....

It's obvious ISU has a ton of athletic talent, that I think we'll see improve as a team as the year goes on.

It's also obvious that Iowa SUCKS. WOW... they are in for a very long, painful season.

First chance I got to read the reactions to this game and wow we still have some negative nancys on this board I see. We controlled this game almost from the very start and the only reason it was 10 points at the end was Iowa jacked up a few quick threes in the last minute. No point in over-defending those when you are up around 15, you get a hand up and go after the rebounds.

This team needed to whup on a team in the worst way after losing 3 straight and they did just that. Hopefully this gives them a little confidence and they string together 3 more wins and go into the Duke game with some confidence.

There will be plenty of time to rip on the coaching after the season, right now we as fans need to get on board and support this team 100% through thick and thin. Adding negativity at any chance you can is not being a very loyal fan and is not doing anything positive to support this team now while there is still plenty of basketball to be played.

I agree. At first I was disappointed we didn't close them out and win by 20, but after watching the replay Saturday morning, I also made the comment that they just jacked up 3 or 4 meaningless 3's, and I wouldn't have defended them any more than we did. I would also suggest that there was no pressure on the Iowa players jacking up those shots, the game was over.

Had the outcome been in doubt we would have played the last minute and a half differently, but I don't question how we did it Friday night.

It still tastes like chicken

CB looked better, but still takes way too many 3's. Lucca is basically useless except for an occasional 3 point shot.

CB was only 4 of 5 from three point range. I fhe doesn't start making some of those I would think GMAC would sit him down until he gets it through his head that he is an inside player. What is CB thinking!!!
