OT - Cutting Cable

Hudsons a long ways away from Northern CF when you're talking VHF signals. All the other locals use UHF or are close enough that a small antenna can pick them up (Channel 2 actually uses channel 29).

Perhaps...I do have a big antenna in my attic. Did have problems initially and figured out I had the antenna pointed backwards!

Where do you live? We are currently moving to Monticello and I’m trying to decide if my antenna in Alburnett will work there? That Sky 60 might be worth looking into if it reaches far enough
I live on the southside of Waterloo.

After buying two antennas that didn't work I actually emailed Mohu tech support and gave them my address. They came back with a couple suggestions that would work for me that's how I ended up with the Sky 60.

I installed an amplified outdoor antenna in my attic and it has been money. The tricky part is figuring out how to tie it into a power source and getting it tied into the coax that already exists in your house. I was able to run mine from the attic down through our bedroom wall into the amplifier and then spliced into the DTV coax. The attic part kind of sucked but I couldn't be happier with the result.

I got mine installed last weekend. I used the antenna you recommended and can now pull in all the DM channels.

My attic sucked too. We have vaulted ceilings in our master bedroom that I had to squeeze by. Luckily it wasn't too hot up there.

Nice! Our attic is large but having to get down through the insulation was a real treat. I installed mine on a cool day so at least I had that going for me... I'm glad the antenna I recommended worked out for you. My neighbor installed it as well and was jacked that he could pull all OTA channels.

Anybody using Directv Now with a Roku? I'm in the middle of a free trial because I like the channel selection a bit better than sling for the money. The problem I'm having is the menu's are constantly freezing up. Is that just my issue or is that a common thing?

From what I have gathered this is probably a Roku issue. When I went switched to streaming the general consensus was to use either a second generation fire stick or a fire TV. Roku seemed to have issues whether you are using PS Vue, DTV Now, or any other streaming service.

I had this with DirecTV Now as well with Roku's. Whenever I switched channels it would say that it lost connection. PSVue worked great with no issues.

I have an antenna in the attic of my garage and pipe the signal into the house through the cable TV jacks. I also currently have DSL internet that comes in through the phone lines. If I wanted to switch to Mediacom, how would that work with the TV antenna and internet running through the same cable? Is that even possible?

It is theoretically possible using something called a diplexer but I've not used one before and not sure how difficult it is to setup. You might consider a Tablo (google it) which would allow the antenna to come in separately at one point and then feed to the rest of the house through wi-fi. You need a media player like Roku or Amazon or Apple on each TV, then.

You only need to connect your Mediacom modem to the service line - you could keep the rest of your existing RG6/RG59 runs connected to your antenna for local stations. You could then use a wireless router and APs to provide wireless coverage for internet.

Shoot, I was thinking he meant he wanted to get Mediacom for TV. This guy is correct.

Medicaom ran me a second line to my living room for our modem. Not sure what your setup is like but if you have accessibility they would probably do this for you.
