They called the play completely off of positioning of the DB relative to the receiver when the ball arrived at the receiver. In part, they also held the fact that the ball was underthrown against us. Any perceptions that Oklahoma State had the ball were made entirely off of these factors. In reality, Murdock completed the process with equal, perhaps even majority posession of the ball, however was doomed from the beginning because it is easier to be gutless and maintain the status quo rather than be critical and risk blowback from the establishment and casual fans who rely on an ingnorant perception of Iowa State's football abilities.
I can almost hear the blowback they would have gotten if they called that a touchdown. They didn't have the guts, and I almost don't blame them. Almost.
