One big concern so far...

I'm not really concerned with that. Our one big is a perimeter shooter, meaning other teams are going to have to bring their big(s) out of the paint to guard out there. That opens up the middle for our guards, who seem to have pretty nice quickness and floor vision.

I do worry about rebounding and post D, but I'm hopeful our guards can pressure the ball along ways from the basket to nulify these deficiencies somewhat.

Spacing is Fred's number 1 point of emphasis right now on the offensive end. Still talking about it today on radio after the game (talked about wanting the wings to go all the way into the corners, not setting up shop at the foul line extended).

I'll admit...watching the 1st two games left me thinking we are out of balanced and reckless. After the past 4 years of watching sets and running the offensive through CB. This uptempo - shoot it before you lose it mentality is hard to re-adjust to.

I swear on Friday night after I saw DG shoot set back 3's, off a fast break....I expected a sub at the table ready to come in for him. Because that would not have happened under Mac.

I feel at home watching this kind of basketball. It looks and feels right to me.

I can watch set-play style basketball, I can support it, I can understand and enjoy it, but this is the kind of style that I absolutely love to watch. To me, this is the good stuff.

Our spacing and ball movement is the best I've seen out of an ISU team in 5 years. DG's shot is night and day better, he finishes strong, and is an entirely different player (Kudos to DG). We did a good job of boxing out tonight, and this will be a must, because we are definitely undersized. I like what I've seen so far, and hope they can keep it up.

I was surprised by that dribble-drive towards the end of the game. I don't expect him to do that all the time, but he looked more agile doing that than I expected.
He really is agile for his size. Definelty not a bad thing.

...is that through 2 games, I don't think I've seen a set post play or real effort to get it down low....outside of maybe 1 or 2 times. Sure JVB and Ejim and others have gotten some put backs in the paint, but I we show zero interest in feeding our bigs.

The high pick and roll or pick and pop works....to a point. I don't see this being quite as successful when playing BIG 12 foes or even instate teams. Especially when teams pick up our guards and overplay the wings.

Ham and or even Dendy would be huge right now...oh course so would White.

What bigs? This team is small, no way past this fact. But they are quick, and they are smart.

This team is going to get bruised underneath this year, for sure. Doesn't mean we can't run the other team off the court. See Villanova the last 6-7 years.

Too young to remember Johnny?

OH and when Morgan did this it was street/thug ball I seem to remember the McD apologists saying...why isnt it street ball now? Hmmmmmm white coach that the big boosters love I presume.

Not too worried about the inside presence yet. If these guys can move the ball and cut to the basket, plus have their outside game, we make it manageable until recruiting fills that. It appears our guards can rebound and are very aggressive. They will feed it inside this year as our bigs get more skilled.

It's obvious we have some holes. But I have to say the one game I've seen was more fun to watch than any of McDufus' games. And the thing I like about that is HOPEFULLY Hilton Magic will return because of it. If not this year, within the next two or three. Freddy knows he needs it back.

I think w/ the eligibility of Chris Allen, things will get even more exciting. I keep hearing about how FAST the guy plays, and how intense he is overall. It will return next year.

(a plea to our transfers in waiting: Please please please just don't get in trouble or academically ineligible!!!)

I'm not going to spend too much time worrying or analyzing what we have or don't have this year. Its year 1, with 3 guys a bunch of freshman thrown into the fire. We're going to take our lumps, but there's plenty of reason to think we get hot for a game or two and knock off an upset. we have EIGHT new players coming in next year....then we can analyze.....

This.....plus when someone hits 3 shots in a row, CFH leaves them in.
Also, so far I have seen nothing resembling "street ball." EVERYONE is hustling at all times and while they are taking more chances, they are having fun and trying every play.

I am very pleased with the team so far. Coaching has been good, effort has been excellent, and the games have been fun to watch. Attendance is terrible, but hopefully that will come around soon.

Yeah. Really the only disappointment so far is our attendance. I hope the Drake game starts a much better attendance trend. The way our Drake games go, we need that.

Yeah, I think the key this year will be not muddling up the paint so that Jake, DG, Ejim and even Scott can get in there on drives.

That is a big problem and no one should be surprised about it. That is the reason we will struggle this year and why we will get eaten alive in the Big 12.

This team would be a lot different if either Dendy or Ham had decided to stay.

The lack of post play will have little to do with caoching this year.
