One big concern so far...

That is a big problem and no one should be surprised about it. That is the reason we will struggle this year and why we will get eaten alive in the Big 12.

This team would be a lot different if either Dendy or Ham had decided to stay.

The lack of post play will have little to do with caoching this year.

Agree on Ham, not on Dendy. Dendy had 3 foot range, was clueless on D, and shot < 50% from the free throw line. He also had the mental capacity of a 9 month-old. Most overrated player in recent memory.

This.....plus when someone hits 3 shots in a row, CFH leaves them in.
Also, so far I have seen nothing resembling "street ball." EVERYONE is hustling at all times and while they are taking more chances, they are having fun and trying every play.

I am very pleased with the team so far. Coaching has been good, effort has been excellent, and the games have been fun to watch. Attendance is terrible, but hopefully that will come around soon.

I think this is the part that surprises me the most. I thought since Hoiberg hasn't coached and he wanted to play uptempo we would see 'street ball'. We haven't. I think Hoiberg is going to grow into a pretty good coach.

One of the insults that some want to throw at us is that Hoiberg is building an NBA type team and that you can't manage those egos. I don't see that (yet....obviously it is really, really early). Most of the guys see to play hard and they all aren't just driving to the basket all of the time.

Another thing I've noticed is that the carryover guys (Jamie, Scotty, DG especially) seem a lot more relaxed out there. It's like they know that not every possession is so critical.

Make no mistake, I think we will lose 'ugly' more times this year than we did with McDermott. But....that will be mostly because we just don't have the right players.

He DID have the mental capcity of a 9 month old. Had the worst basketball IQ I've seen.

But he was talented and he could have helped this team.

I do agree that I would want Ham back more.

The big question is whether this coaching staff would be able to connect better with Dendy than the previous one did.

As much smoother as the other carryover guys look, I like to think so. It's just hard to tell with Dendy. I think his presence would allow a little more pressing, and I still believe that he'd be a great shotblocker at the end of a press.

I'm dead serious when I say I don't think he would've. He didn't play hard. He got a lot of blocked shots because he was out of position. He was a waste offensively if it wasn't a put back. We're going to get abused inside, might as well get abused with freshman who can learn from it and be animals in a couple years as opposed to having him out there showing them how to play hoops.

O c'mon! Look at it this way--we're now 1/10 of the way to qualifying for the Big Dance--two wins down, eighteen to go!
Optimism i like it we are also tied for 1st now in the big 12 doesnt get any better then that

After three years of being micro-managed.......this is no surprise.

I don't want any of the old guys back. This is a total rebuild and I'm confident it'll be done right.

I feel the same way.

I noticed Hamilton starting to develop as last season progressed, so I'm sure his presence and experience wouldn't hurt, especially since this year's lineup seems small overall. If he had come back, I'd think of it as an asset, but I don't view it as, "Oh, he's the missing piece of the puzzle."

There's also no way no know how he might have worked within this new system.

I like running 4 guards with 1 big. I know we are gonna have tough time with inside game but there are benefits to having more guards. Look at Nova couple years back where they went with 4 smalls with 1 big. Our weakness is our biggest strength.

College basketball is dominated by guard play, We make shots we win, we are going to have off nights and lose games. So far were shooting the ball well and creating a lot of open looks. Rebounding will be an issue come Big 12 time but this team is already a surprise. I love the effort keep it up boys!

My main concern yesterday was that nobody seemed to go up for rebounds after a shot was taken. Too many times I'd see a guard drive the lane by himself and nobody there to help him out. They took some silly shots on the inside and hopefully a few rounds of watching game tape will correct that.

Generally I was pleasently surprised with how well our defense played. Love the change in tempo from a year ago and player spacing and pasing coming down the court looked really good.

This. A big man's impact on the offensive end is over rated in college basketball, we had Brackins last year and where'd that get us? I agree, the biggest issue with size is going to be on the boards, guards can hide a big mans lack of offense.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that White, Allen, Babb, and Booker are probably 10 times tougher to play against than the teams we have played so far for the starters, and that trend will continue with just a couple of exceptions until Big 12 play starts. Hard to judge what we are seeing so far when these guys are playing better competition every day in practice than in games.

When you've got the floor spread as much as we have in the first two games, offensive rebounding won't show up as a strength.
