That's the QB market. If you believe in your guy then you may as well pay him now because the price is only going up.

sort of. Reported that only $74 million is guaranteed. That's the only number that means anything. They'll restructure or cut him before he gets anywhere near that $137 number.

What was the story on why Norv quit/got fired during the middle of the season in his last job?
The Vikings hired Shurmer as a position coach after they traded for Bradford because of their past relationships. I think Norv started feeling that this was undermining his authority as the OC and eventually decided to just walk away.
This is purely speculation on my part.
lol, he's way overpaid. What has be done to earn this type of money? Nothing but being Tom Brady's for a couple years.

I take back what I said about him not playing out this contract. He very well could. The 49ers were pretty smart with this. He's getting a big amount up front, but the later, non-guaranteed, years of the contract, are going to be fairly cheap if Garoppolo turns out to be a franchise guy; around $24 million. In 3 years, $24 million is going to be a bargain for a franchise guy, so he very well might play out the contract. And if he isn't a franchise guy, they can cut him after 2 years with no cap hit, since his 2020 salary is only partially guaranteed against injury. From the team's perspective, this is a 2 year, $48 million contract. They can get out for nothing after that. Not a bad gamble, if you're San Francisco, who has a ton of cap room this year.

Multiple outlets reporting that Frank Reich will be the next head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Of course you never know until the contract is signed, but assuming Reich takes the job that's a pretty good Plan B for Indy. Reich's been knocking around the league as a coach for about a decade now and he's well-respected. All in all it doesn't really matter who the coach is. The future of the franchise is tied to Andrew Luck and his surgically repaired shoulder.
He fell a long way in the draft last year - part of it was the off-field stuff and part of it was shoulder injury history. At the time it looked like a steal for the Niners and he still might be, but he's only going to get so many chances. These incidents alone are probably going to cost him a few paychecks next season.

I've seen this rumor floated on a few different sites now. It's surprising the Chiefs would be willing to part with such a talented player, but maybe they're tired of managing him. He can be kind of a headache.
The obvious trade partners would be Cleveland or Indy - both teams have the draft picks to make a deal, need at the position, cap space to get a long term deal done if they so choose (he has one year left on his rookie deal plus a team option for a fifth year), and John Dorsey was the GM when KC drafted Peters and Chris Ballard was the assistant GM and the guy who endorsed Peters after a predraft meeting.

After Bortles resigned with Jacksonville, Minnesota has to feel like they're the most attractive team situation out there for a qb to step into. They will likely make strong use of the "Win now" pitch.

All depends on what Cousins is after - a winning team or the biggest payday he can get. There are several teams who could outbid the Vikes without totally sacrificing their long term ability to put a good supporting cast around him, but unlike those teams Minnesota is positioned to win right now. He could be the missing piece if he doesn't mind leaving a little on the table.

I wonder how Chiefs fans feel about this move. If - and if it's a big if - Peters behaves then it's a bargain for the Rams. An All-Pro caliber shutdown CB with two years left on his rookie deal for a 2018 fourth rounder and a 2019 second rounder? That's a good deal.
This trade likely means Rams CB Trumaine Johnson will be on the move in free agency.
