In South Korea, 8 time zones away. With all the pressure in the world after getting **** stomped in 98. Not the same situation.
So those aren’t excuses…? I know you can never admit you are wrong (closet Republican perhaps since that’s how they all act), but I remember that day against Poland (had to travel to South Korea too) and it was a bit like last night while watching us blow the chance up until South Korea got that goal. Soccer wasn’t as big then, so we were just happy to go through no matter how. And we took advantage of it. We should be better 20+ years later, but we are basically the same from a results standpoint. I have agreed with you on virtually every point in this thread, especially the real problems.
Was simply pointing out the 2002 WC team didn’t do what they were supposed to do in Group play just like last night. Uruguay last night much better than that Poland team, and Poland kicked the crap out of us that day after just being trashed by Portugal. It took help from another team to get to the KO Round then and until late in the match yesterday, we almost had it from Bolivia when they tied it with Panama. We know the rest of the night.
Full credit to the 2002 team once they got to the KO Round, but again, the Group Stage was similar to last night’s situation only against a much worse team.
