At this point I have no idea if this team loses all of their remaining games or runs the table and makes a deep run in the tourney, but it does not seem like they are playing their best basketball in March which should be the coach's goal.

Remember Lard isn't the first guy Prohm has had problems with. He couldn't get McKay in line either. I know its his team but I often wonder if he expects these kids to be eagle scouts all the time. That probably isn't going to happen. Prohm has to be able to work with kids who don't share his puritan morals.

Its possible. McKay has come to mind for me as well when thinking about the Lard situation. Managing talent is part of the job.

But only insiders would really know the issues with either of them and whether that's a player problem or a prohm problem. I dont think 99% of us have enough information to know on that question. At the same time we've been told Hoiberg was sort of the opposite end of the spectrum- let them do whatever they want- which had its own downsides.

The move I didn't understand was going to the zone for a few possessions in the second half.

What we needed was some tough extended man to man without switching. Unfortunately, I don't think we have a "lock down" defender to cover the hot shooter.

To be frank, I don't think Prohm teaches a tough man to man style.

You can't teach tough.

Maybe he should think twice from now on about recruiting kids with behavioral issues like this?

Jacobson too. Why Prohm refuses to start our best players is baffling at this point. We get behind early and have to rely on Wiggy and Lard to get us back in the game. How about actually start those guys and build a lead for once.
Arguing for Lindell to start is a reasonable position, but your case you give above is pretty much the exact opposite of whatactually happened today. Plus outside of the two games vs OU he has struggled mightily on the defensive end.

Oh boy...

At what point in time does a player need to be held accountable for not meeting the standards of the program? Does a player ever need to take responsibility, or is it always on the coaches?

I don't think there is much correlation between how a team plays in the few games leading up to the NCAA's, and then how they perform during the tournament.
There are tons of examples of teams "limping" into the NCAA's and then winning, and then also teams that are "hot" entering the NCAA's and then getting beat the first weekend, or getting upset at some point.

Hopefully this loss gets Texas into the dance. At least the conference will split some ncaa tournament money out of the deal.

Still trying to decide if we are living through Morgan 2.0 or McDermott 2.0. CSP can recruit but production on the court just plain suxs.

Well we know its not McDermott 2.0 since he never took us to the tournament.

Yeah winning 20 games and being in the NCAA tournament is just horrible.

These guys need to circle the wagons and decide what they want out of this season, and then set to work on it.

Had to run errands after game so haven't read thread but wanted to hopefully be the first to get this snarky comment on the record.

Only, and I mean only redeeming thing about the loss is that it makes the Squawkeyes win over us less important :)

Also rinse and repeat on the quoted comments, haven't we heard this before and before and ...
