***Official Sugar Bowl Thread***

Hindsight is always the best to work with but the committee probably got this about as right as they could have. In retrospect, FSU was probably the weakest team in the playoffs, but obviously you can't leave out the reigning and undefeated champs.

Could TCU have beaten Alabama? Maybe. TCU vs tOSU would be one heck of a match up. Can't wait until this is expanded to 8 teams.

It's clear that Baylor doesn't have enough mental toughness particularly on the defensive side of the ball to play with the big boys yet though.

No, the committee was charged with picking the top 4 teams not just looking at their "resumes." Jumping OSU into the top 4 turned out to be genius on their part. They knew what they were doing.

I understand that, still does not change the fact that TCU and Baylor both had better bodies of work, which was my point. Also, the only reason FSU got in was because of their "resume".

And an undefeated, power conference team, is always going to get in when there are no other undefeated teams, regardless of resume. And even if resume was the only factor, FSU's resume was as good or better than either of the Big 12 teams. Better SOS and undefeated. They may have been a paper tiger, but there's no legit argument that FSU shouldn't have made the playoff.

Again, I agree. But when that team is ranked third, it's obvious that there is a feeling that undefeated team is weak. It's hard to argue, in hindsight, that the committee got it wrong. However, I still will argue that Baylor and TCU's bodies of work were better then OSU's, and yes, I fully understand that body of work was not the only determining factor for the committee.

Is this just a random thought, or did he say something for you to post this. Believe me, I think you are spot on with your post, I'm just curious of what he said, if anything to get you to post this.

He was being interviewed on Sportscenter and he was already full of excuses and SEC bias. I realize he works for the SEC network, but he is an idiot. I dont have any links as I couldnt find the video. If I or someone can find it, it will probably get posted.

Here's a wild thought. No conference is going to be the best every single year without fail. Just because the SEC typically is doesn't mean it always is.

This bowl season has shifted SOS rankings like none I've ever seen. The combination of so many top SEC teams getting beat or blown out, and Texas and OU getting blown out has really boosted ACC, Pac and Big Ten ahead of where they were when the season ended.

Yeah, guy is a real moron, I remember hearing him on the college football station when I had sirius included with my new car.

I suppose his excuse was, since it wasn't actually the National championship game, Bama didn't come to play?

I have been very critical of OSU but that is what I get for doubting Urban Meyer. Just don't do it.

He's the best. I would have voted for his Utah team as #1 if I had an AP vote. They were 10 years ahead of college football and the second most statistically dominant team in college football history. Only two teams have played an entire perfect season with no close games, his unbeaten Utah team is one of them culminating with a blowout bowl win over Alabama. Everybody right now is doing things his Utah team did a decade ago.

Wasn't it Pittsburgh? Still though, that Utah team probably deserved a chance at the National Title.
Probably could have jumped Oklahoma who just got absolutely demolished in the Big 12 title game by Kansas State.

Edit: Nevermind, I was on the wrong year. You couldn't justify that Utah team jumping an undefeated OU or USC in 2004 for the national title. Utah probably could have beat that OU team still and given USC a much better fight than OU did.
