***Official Olympics Discussion***

"Last year, Azerbaijan was alleged to have paid millions to an international boxing organization in order to assure its fighters would win two gold medals in London. The country denied the BBC report."

I did see that. I don't know what is worse: trying to buy your way to a gold medal or someone taking a bribe and allowing it to happen

Olympic Boxing has been a mess for quite some time.

So you're saying it's a lot like professional boxing then:v_SPIN:

Also, unrelated to boxing, it looks like some people were a little to quick to start throwing dirt on a certain olympian.

I thought he said that he was going to retire after these games even though did he say the same thing after Beijing?

He most likely will. If he really wanted to, I think he could go to Rio as a butterfly specialist and do some of the relays. Maybe 3 or 4 events total. I don't think he wants to train anymore though, and I can't say that I blame him.

I don't know if he said that after Beijing, but he's definitely said it multiple times now. He's gotta be sick of all the preparation at this point though.

Maybe it was something about wanting to cut back on the events but that didn't happen.

Yeah he said that he wouldn't do 8 events again, but he still qualified for 8. This time he dropped the 200m freestyle so he only had to do 7.

Watching the live streaming of the girl's gymnastics made me realize how horrible NBC's primetime coverage really is.

Some random thoughts from me.

Walsh and May lost their first set yesterday, they must not be giving their all eh "Phelps Haters" :jimlad:

Kessy and Ross finally got a day match, so our first W BV match where Team USA was in normal beach attire.

Russia beat Brazil today by 1 on a 3 pointer with 4 seconds left.

I wouldn't say it's horrible since I like the announcers but they could do some things to make it a little better. They could put a top 5 scores listing at the bottom of the screen so we know where everyone stands. They do a decent job of explaining where the errors are in routines but that could also be a little better.

I mean the whole primetime broadcast though. The fact that it's all a bunch of clip show highlights that they try to pass off as current, you don't get to see half of what's actually happening, takes all the life out of the competitions.
