NBA: ***Official NBA Draft and Offseason Thread***

You know how terrible he is from the handful of games you've watched him play in. But Gary Harris averaged 10.5 ppg, 2.5 reb, 1.8 ast, and had a DRating of 114 last year. compared to Wiggins 115. I understand that you will not get past the fact that Wiggins isn't a good defender, but to say Gary Harris is better than him is reaaalllly showing your hand.

How do you keep getting so many stats wrong? Harris averaged 14.9/3.1/2.9 and shot 42% from 3. Also, you mention he had a better Drating than Wiggins, he also had a 121 ORtg compared to 107 for Wiggins. That seems to be a big gap there. So what is Wiggins better at than Harris?

If you can get one person on here to truly agree with you that Gary Harris is better than Andrew Wiggins right now, I will never comment on this thread about Andrew Wiggins again.

In his 3 years in the league, that has been his average. The numbers I listed.

Edit: either way, how does that make your point any better?

Harris last year had a much, much better ORtg than Wiggins, 121 to 107, he also had a better DRtg. He also is a knockdown 3 point shooter. He also has a better assist rate and nearly the same defensive rebounding rate.

Everything offensively, other than 3 point shooting. I don't have an answer to the ORating other than maybe he put up more shots the second half of the year with Lavine and Belli being out leading to his efficiency going down. I know he struggled from 3 A LOT more the second half of the season.

I don't understand your hate for Wiggins he's going into his 4th season in the nba. Watch this be a break out year for him

I have no hate for Wiggins. I'm just pointing out there's a huge disconnect between the player he is today, and what people on here think he is. He still has a lot of potential but there's a reason I can rattle off a whole list of stats (ORtg, DRtg, VORP, Win Shares, Ast Rate, 3 pt %, eFG%) where Gary Harris is better than Wiggins and the people backing Wiggins main argument is just "He's better". The numbers don't lie. The Timberwolves record doesn't lie.

Matt Bonner, Loy Vaught, Mike O'Koren, Leonard Gray, Alvin Scott, John Johnson, Junior Bridgeman. That's the list of most similar careers through three years to Wiggins on Basketball Reference. That's not a who's who of elite NBA players.

Wiggins still has a ton of potential, he could still be a great wing, but he's not today. And he's not really close. The things Wiggins is better than Harris at, mid-range shooting, post ups, are inefficient ways of scoring. Wiggins has shown he can be a volume scorer so far but that's about it.

You should probably 'learn the game'

Not really sure what you are getting at here. I'm in complete agreement with CyJack on this one. Take off the timberwolves glasses for a second, and you can easily see what he is saying about Wiggins.

Can he be great? Yes. Is he great right now and worthy of a max, with two other guys more deserving of a max? No. It's honestly not a very hard argument to make either. Why not wait the year out like was said before? If he turns it up a notch this year, then pull the trigger. If he doesn't, then don't.

I'm not getting all the hate for this thought process.

Not what he is saying.

Can you give reasons what the benefits are of giving him the max now, vs waiting until after the season plays out?

Wiggins is a good player; franchise player? Very much no. He is coming up on his 4th season in the league. Most players either breakout or don't by now. His usage went up, and efficiency went down this past year, and has a superstar to play with.

Like CyJack, I want to hear legitimate reasons as to why he deserves a max, and not just he's good type of comment.

All said, I like him as a player, and think he can be good, but 4 seasons in will be pretty telling the type of player he is.

Harrison Barnes got married this weekend. Lots of NBA guys there including Steph and Kyrie. At the reception Steph mocks Lebron's workout while be encouraged by a laughing Kyrie Iriving. No way he is a Cav when this season starts.

Some odd quotes from the T'Wolves owner about giving Wiggins the max. I don't think I've ever heard any owner front office guy talk about giving someone a contract as long as they promise to get better.

"To me, by making this offer, I'm speculating that his contribution to the team will be more in the future," Taylor told The Associated Press. "We've got to be better. He can't be paid just for what he's doing today. He's got to be better."

"He seems to have the ability, and so the only thing it would be is for some reason he didn't work hard enough to obtain the skill sets. That's what you're asking him to commit to."
