Some odd quotes from the T'Wolves owner about giving Wiggins the max. I don't think I've ever heard any owner front office guy talk about giving someone a contract as long as they promise to get better.
"To me, by making this offer, I'm speculating that his contribution to the team will be more in the future," Taylor told The Associated Press. "We've got to be better. He can't be paid just for what he's doing today. He's got to be better."
"He seems to have the ability, and so the only thing it would be is for some reason he didn't work hard enough to obtain the skill sets. That's what you're asking him to commit to."

It's an odd one. It wouldn't be the first time an NBA team has paid on potential rather than production and it probably won't be the last, but like you I'm trying to recall the last time an owner or exec was so up front about it. If I was Andrew Wiggins, I might find this more insulting than not being offered the max at all. "I'll give you the max, but first you need to make a super duper pinky swear promise to get better."
