*OFFICIAL* MBB POST GAME: ISU @ Nebraska

Ugly But A W is a W

Congrats to the Cyclones for hanging mentally tough in this game and pulling out a victory. I, however can't say they played with a ton of effort and intensity like others. I saw an awful lot of standing around and we didn't get a lot of the 50/50 loose balls. It was a strange game...excuse it to a UT hangover.

Here is my take on taking the good with the bad...

DG - His ability to take it to the basket makes up (barely) for his lack of defensive, rebounding and ability to dish off during his drives to the hoop.

Lucca - His ability to be a very streaky 3pt shooter falls a little short for his lack of ability to defend or rebound or pass for that matter. Play him in 5 min spurts and only keep him in the game if he is taking and making 3pt shots.

Gilstrap - His strengths far far far out weigh his weaknesses but he needs to keep better track of his defensive assignment when the shot goes up. Also, if you are going to only make one free throw every time you go to the line...let's bury the first one. Oh yes and please make all the bunny shots.

Dendy - There is a lot to love here....practice your free throws and make all the bunnies.

CB - Keep your chin up and try standing out on the defensive end of the floor if your offensive game is off. I think your coach needs to run you off some picks in the paint where you can catch and shoot...posting against the double team just isn't your game.

Hamilton - No complaints....you are pure gravy.

Scotty - You are a far better defender and ball handler than Lucca so if you could just start making 3's with a little more consistency you can have most of his minutes.

DB - You need to shine where DG doesn't....defensively and distributing the ball when penetrating.

What final beef...if I never see another casual one handed flip pass up top or one of those passes to the post where you try to put major spin on the ball to defy physics like we use to do in elementary school at the YMCA I would be very happy.

Did I mention this was a nice road win

I'm very proud of MY Clones tonight. Fought hard and got a win ON THE ROAD!!

Great job Mac, staff and the boys!!!

Scotty looked good in the second half once he got in the flow. He provided a lot more movement on the offense opening things up more.

Everything has slowed down for Dendy now, he looks really comfortable out there and looks like a Big 12 post player, plus a ton of energy. He deserves to get 25 minutes and play at the end of the game. Now he just needs to knock down his freaking free throws.

Scotty is a nice player.

Dendy is getting good. Can really grab the rebounds, a little Rodman in him.

Wow! I can really tell that we won tonight. These post game threads are usually at the top of the list in the forum for the entire night!

Huge? I wouldn't say that. It was a game we are supposed to win. To get to the tournament we need to win the ones we are supposed to and steal a few others.
I would say huge!! You can't win your 2nd conference game until you win your first. Also every win streak starts with 1.

Even the best cyclone teams struggled to win in Lincoln. Its great to win and still have a ton of things to work on.

Beat Tech.

Great win....hope Lucca is alright. Can't afford to lose another body. He really looked like his knee/leg was bothering him there at the end.

All our games are ugly. Can't shoot free throws, point guard can't finish and no outside shooters. We have to win ugly, but I'll take them.

The overall effort level wasn't as good as Texas (to be expected) but it was much better than the non-conf games.

A road conference MBB win takes another monkey off the proverbial back of ISU. Got rid of a few of those this academic year already...

I'm glad the effort was better tonight, but why was it "to be expected" that the effort wouldn't be as good as it was against Texas? Hopefully, ISU can quickly get to the point where they bring a strong "Texas" level effort to every game. That's the only way they will make it to the NCAA tourney...

Funny how that happens when you are tackled by a linebacker on the hardwood.

Hope it was just a hard hit/bruise and he's going to be okay.

If you are on the Facebook group they just posted a locker room talk by Mac and an interview with Brackins.

How about you cant start a conference ROAD win streak. After three years we should take anything we can get.
