Just got back from NE...some of my thoughts from the game.

We came out playing very well, and did a really good job of getting into the lane on offense, and showed a real commitment to rebounding. We seemed to really compete well. Good movement on offense and it always helps when you hit some shots. Around the 8 minute timeout they started to make some adjustments focused on keeping us out of middle of the lane.....and made a good comeback.

Some of the things we need to work on....our entry passes that got stolen were not all bad passes. The bigs need to do a better job of pinning their defender behind them as well. Most of those should not have been steals. The pg position still needs to do a much better job of finishing layups. Transition defense needs to do a much better job of stopping ball. Thats what comes to mind from initial memory.

Probably not a very big win nationally, or one that a ncaa committee would take a big notice of, but one that was sorely needed for the confidence of our team, I think.

This is another example. You state that you feel that he is the right guy to lead the program.

What have you seen that makes you think this? What tangible reasons can you state that this is the guy that will get it done?

I always hear that he is a nice guy, runs a clean program.....Those are admirable traits. However, it's still all about the W's. And being a nice guy, and running a clean program doesn't mean that you can't win.

W's raise money, W's get TV exposure, W's get the attention of the types of players that we need to compete in the conference that we play in.

I don't think that he can't get it done, I am just curious as to why there are some on here that seem convinced that he will.

Let's hope that this team is learning how to win. And that this all comes to pass. We are all CYCLONE fans.

As I've said, the program under McDermott has not been without it's flaws. I'm disappointed that with the defections and the fact that we haven't been to postseason play. It's clear to me that all of the defections in year one, and the defection of Wesley Johnson pushed back the timetable a bit. I'm also not thrilled with the way the teams have responded to his coaching, but some of that is due to player turnover. This is probably the first year that he doesn't have that excuse, and while we still have issues in that regard, this year isn't over yet.

However, I'm thrilled with the quality of recruits that he gets, and his ability to identify the diamonds in the rough. I'm also completely sold on his as a man of character, which is critical. If he can continue to get high quality recruits, and find ways to get them to gel and play sound, principled basketball, with his character, we could see a mini-dynasty of postseason play.
