***Official FIFA World Cup 2018 Thread***

Yeah, I wanted to see Iceland pull it out some how, but Argentina being in the round of 16 should be fun. But you can't be mad that a team is using gamesmanship, up one, in extra time, when they need to win to advance. I'm not a fan of the whole gamesmanship situation either, but that is one of the few times I agree with it haha, it's when it is an entire second half or the last 20 minutes, that is when it's infuriating.

"Gamesmanship". I'm a soccer supporter and I hate this term. It's stalling. Just call it stalling.

Joachim Low? I doubt it. Dude brought Germany their first title since reunification
Wouldn’t be surprised if he does. No matter how you slice it, embarrassing historic losses don’t sit well with Germany.

This has been a heck of a World Cup. It’s too bad so many Americans are missing out. I have to record and just not check my phone throughout the day but it has been totally worth it. Can’t wait for the knockout stage.

Seriously though it sometimes amazes me how quick they are to fire a manager in soccer. It’s unbelievable. Club level as well.

Crazy World Cup. USA and Italy didn't qualify, and Argentina barely did. Germany got knocked out in the group phase, and any of Spain, Portugal, Mexico, and Argentina probably should have.

Before the start, read a interesting article on the BBC about who would win - how to pick winner based on history. Well, no unseeded team ever won, no non-Euro team ever won in Europe, etc etc. So they narrowed it down to Belgium and Germany. They picked Belgium, because "Germany historically does not travel well to Russia" or something like that. Hilarious, love the English always taking the not so subtle jab at the Germans.

The other 2 comments I saw that were good:

"Don't mention ze VAR"

and

"People are really enjoying Germany's misery on going out. If only there was a word in English to describe that kind of feeling"

As it stands currently in Group H, Colombia is the winner, and there is a tie between Japan and Senegal, with a tie in goal differential I believe. Does anyone know how they break a tiebreaker tie?
