I don't know what to call his hair. It does look better than the "Delta Swoop" or "Southern Swoosh" which every SEC fan and player has.
A few thoughts:
1) It is absolutely amazing to think about how far Fred has brought this program in such a short time. Over the course of 4 years we have gone from the bottom of the Big 12 to beating the number 7 team in the nation by 15 points. With how fast this turnaround occured, I think it's easy to lose perspective on how monumental this is. Fred has constructed one of the best teams in school history (and a very rich school history) basically starting over from scratch 4 years ago. It's incredible and also important to
2) As Myron Medcalf's article discusses, look who we are doing this with. Ejim has been a workhorse throughout his career, but there's no doubt Fred has groomed him into the versatile player he is today. Niang, Morris and Thomas were all very solid recruits, but not of the McDonalds AA caliber. Hogue was a relatively lightly recruited JUCO. Kane was productive at Marshall but no one was entirely sure what we were getting with him. Long and Dorsey Walker were relatively lightly recruited as well. It's incredibly the way Fred is able to first develop them as basketball players, and next to fit them into their roles.
3) I guess I can no longer say I'm shocked by Scott Drew's lack of coaching ability. I think I can count on one hand how many times they cleared out a side and posted up Jefferson, Gathers or Austin. It just doesn't make sense to me. Also, Heslip was giving us fits and he was on the bench for an extended period of time midway through the second half, about the same time we made our run. I'm no expert, but to me the concept of him stretching out our defense and making doubling down on the post and rotations out of that double more difficult would make alot of sense...

He at least recognized by the post game presser that the double team in the post was hurting them. Baby steps...
I'd just like to post this one more time this week:
In Conference Home Games under Hoiberg, we have covered the spread 74% of the time (20-7). That is a RIDICULOUS number, it's amazing the oddsmakers haven't adjusted.
Also, it has been 19 years (Jan 1995) since we lost a home game in which we were favored over a ranked opponent. Of the ones I have spread information for (since '97), that includes 13 games and we've covered the spread in every one, except Iowa this year (favored by 4, won by 3). Yes, we are 1 point away from being a perfect 13-0 in covering the spread when favored at home against a ranked team in the last 15 years.
The moral of this story? I don't usually gamble, but when I do I take ISU to cover in Hilton.

Based on that presser, they're my new favorite non-ISU Big XII team. Hope they finish second and make a deep run in the tourney.
Using the spotlight on Orr's banner, whether or not anything else is done, would be cool for this season.

T'ing Ejim for hanging on the rim. Looked to me like if he would've let go he'd land on his back.
Not calling an intentional foul when the Baylor guy knocked Kane down the first time. (Finally got it right the second time).
Handing Kane the ball at the FT line, then waving the basket off because another ref was being looked at by medical??? How about don't give him the ball in the first place.
The obvious charge that they called a block. CFH would agree.
Giving Scotty Evil a timeout after we passed the ball in.
I've seen bad officiating in the past -- I just thought that with two Top 10 teams on ESPN would warrant a better officiating crew.

I thought Baylor looked like a good team overall in the first half, but when we pulled away in the second was when their flaws were shown. They got sloppy. They committed a lot of turnovers in the second half, and most of them were travels. They got frustrated and started playing stupid, like when Ejim got pushed down from behind, the flagrant on Kane, or when Isiah Austin lost the ball out of bounds and then screamed in frustration. That basically defined the game for Baylor. They came in thinking they were a top 10 team, and were getting completely embarrassed on national TV. That's where a good coach calls a timeout and talks to his guys to get them refocused on the game. Scott Drew couldn't do that because he had blown them all in the first half. Baylor is a good team, but they can't get angry where things aren't working the way they are supposed to. When Baylor is focused they could beat anyone in the country anywhere in the country. One more point to add here. It's a commonly known fact that when you challenge a shot that the shooting percentage goes down a ton of said shooter. I swear to god that is the opposite with that Heslip. It felt like the only shots he made were 3 point shots where he was almost out of bounds with a hand in his face.
Same here. I always thought Baylor was a pretty dooshy school but watching the player interviews changed that.
