*** Official #22 IOWA STATE vs Colorado Game(Day) Thread ***

Tell me how it works then... I really want to know... that's why I looked it up. I want to understand the rules. Seriously. I know you don't like me, that's perfectly okay, I have nothing against you.... I just want to understand the ruling.
A tipped pass only negates pass interference that happens after the tip.

It’s always been my question about CMC. Guy has done a lot of great things at ISU, but every year there are those WTF moments. All the talk he gets for being underpaid or the next big hire, this guy would get eaten alive at a blue blood when he would drop that game against a complete nobody. He has some great attributes, but is always good for at least one major head scratcher a year. And never ever learns from it.

Here's the thing...I don't disagree with you. But is there a coach that doesn't have some WTF moments every single year. That's ******* life. It's kind of like how (when we actually had a good kicker) we would talk about how our guy always misses FGs, but they never really miss more than most other kickers.

No but the ball still has to be deemed catchable in college to be pass interference. A guy intercepted it 8 yards in front of Brahmer, so clearly not a catchable ball.
Yeah... I would guess the ball isn't very catchable when it's already going the other way because the throw was so horribly short. Same if he threw it 8 yds over his head, but the opposite.

If the receiver is being pulled to the ground, that’s holding.

If it happens while the ball is in the air, it’s interference.

If the ball is tipped after the receiver is being pulled to the ground, it’s still interference.

The only way you wave it off is if the ball is tipped/touched before the illegal contact by the defender.

I get we are all disappointed, myself included. But I still love the cyclones and will continue to support them.

Did the players make mistakes? Yep. Did coaches make mistakes? Yep. Did the officials make mistakes? Yep. Lots of blame to go around.

But pointing fingers won’t solve anything. All we can do is show our support. Campbell has done enough to earn my trust he can get this turned around.

Either way, coaches always preach next play, and all next serious Campbell is losing his mind. Do a better job showing composure and mental toughness.
I used to like the “coaching with fire” from Rhoads and Campbell but honestly these midfield meltdowns are ******* embarrassing when you’re
1. Losing to inferior teams
2. Supposed to be leading a bunch of 18-22 year olds

A pretty big difference between Campbell and TJ there.

There are times I wish TJ would ride the refs a bit harder, but overall his poised demeanor tends to rub off on his team

I have to believe the 3rd down rush was to get it to 4th and 5 for a more maneageable try on 4th.....problem is we either tipped the play or bothched it so incredibly bad it was as disaster with Rocco showing little skill to do anything but run into a pile. Then Matt said F it. how about coaching better earlier in the game and preparing better. The 3 man rush must be scuttled. I thought we had some moments of blitzing. Rocco and staff should work in the other qb some....just as part of long term strategy....a weakness with this staff

This defense gave up 21 points (not putting that last FG on them, that’s 100% on the coaching staff for going for it on your own 19).

That should be enough to win every Big 12 game you play…it’s not like there are ‘85 Bears level defenses anywhere in the conference.

This loss was on the offense and coaching.

Problem is the throw was so uncompetitive it brought doubt into the situation.
By rule that doesn’t matter, it’s why holding can be called completely away from where the play is going. A penalty is a penalty. It happened before the INT, so you could always argue, at the very least, he’s able to break up the INT.

You are right. Interference happens with contact when the ball is in the air. That was the case here. Ball has to be deemed catchable by the player being interfered with, which it was not, as a player 8 yards in front of the interference and not involved in it picked it off.

In college they don’t explicitly state ball was uncatchable like they do in the NFL, but it is part of the college rules that a ball has to be deemed catchable by the interfered player (assuming the interference wouldn’t have happened).
