*** Official #22 IOWA STATE vs Colorado Game(Day) Thread ***

Campbell said at halftime: "Our discipline and detail stinks. It's on coaching (and) we've gotta get it fixed."

I guess he thought they'd fix it in the off week?

I thought we would win 8 regular season games, but after last week 7 wins.
Now I think they will be playing OSU for win #6 and a chance for the worst bowl game Big 12 has. Also, not many fans will attend.

D gave up 21, that going for it on 4th and 1 giving ball on ISU 16 was not a D issue.

D was right on average in terms of points allowed.

Offense was about 10 points below average. Hit average win game.

Offense did best when they ran 2 minute drill.

Still think 7-5 maybe 8-4, they are better at home. And they get some guys back

I feel like all the focus this year should be on the offense and their failures. 17 against this Colorado team? Completely embarrassing. And it hasn’t just been this game.
Rocco has just not been good this year. His accuracy is questionable. And he is getting no help from the WRs - they drop passes and can't get open. A couple of them have shown flashes at times, but none of them have been good this year. TEs are the only bright spot on offense. O-line is average, as usual. Running game was good today, but pretty poor the rest of the season. Play calling has been a little better than what we usually get, but overall it could be a lot better.

This is just not how this works at all.
Tell me how it works then... I really want to know... that's why I looked it up. I want to understand the rules. Seriously. I know you don't like me, that's perfectly okay, I have nothing against you.... I just want to understand the ruling.

i dont think they will spiral, but these 2 games are going to be a big WTF when the season is done.
It’s always been my question about CMC. Guy has done a lot of great things at ISU, but every year there are those WTF moments. All the talk he gets for being underpaid or the next big hire, this guy would get eaten alive at a blue blood when he would drop that game against a complete nobody. He has some great attributes, but is always good for at least one major head scratcher a year. And never ever learns from it.

The fact that the defender caught the ball, deems it a catchable ball. It doesn’t have to be the targeted wide receiver. The receiver was being held.
Uh no. It has to catchable by the guy that was interfered with.

It’s this simple. Had there been no interference does it change the play at all? Of course it does not.

If it was deemed he pulled him down after the ball was in the air, which it was, then PI could be the call (vs defensive holding). For it to be PI, the ball has to be catchable by Brahmer, which it obviously was not.

Either way, coaches always preach next play, and all next serious Campbell is losing his mind. Do a better job showing composure and mental toughness.

We look decimated and tired. We just don’t have the horses left. Having said that everyone will expect to beat us going forward… except maybe OSU

When we started this two week section of the schedule with back to back road games I figured at worst, 1-1. But to go 0-2 is beyond horrible. Don't give me we are down our two starting corners and our kicker, CU was down a lot of players today, and still won the game. So what were we doing early that we are not doing now?
We are no longer winning in the margin, sorry, we are just not. The defense cannot get off the field, we are not getting turnovers, and worst of all we are committing penalties. Cincinnati and CU are not good teams, we have brought our level of play down to their level instead of forcing them to play up to our level of play. The coaching has been subpar, 4 and 1 and again we run into a stacked box, if Rocco just had kept the ball he would not only have picked up the first down, but might have added another 30 or 40 yards. How may dropped passes did we have today, a lot, again, something we were not doing early in the season.
Some years teams have figure out how to win games, and move up their level of play, ours has regressed, on both sides of the ball.
You know we are in trouble, when the line that the field goal kicker is comfortable making is at the 21. This is a gut check time for this team, it reminds me of 2002, started the season with a loss vs Florida St, then rolled 5 wins in a row, getting up to 9th in the polls and then it all came crashing down. This team is following that path.

We got exactly what we deserved today. A mediocre played game. Still had a chance to win if it weren't for a terrible official no call in the endzone. Disappointing for sure.

The blown call will get much of the attention but it was Rocco’s inaccuracy and the coaching staff that lost us this game.

The ball wasn't tipped or intercepted BEFORE Brahmer was tackled. It was text book DPI.

Running a two minute drill is hard to keep up all game but ISU imo is at their best when they stay downhill no matter if it's run or pass.
