Finished my shoveling in only two shifts. I had planned on needing three shifts, two for the driveway but did it in one. Old man power!
Looking at the forecast, I'll let mother nature handle the driveway.
Well, power off and on from last night (had to finish the game on phones) and then for about 5 straight hours this morning. House dropped 2 degrees so not bad.
Driveway drift up to my chin. Heavy wet crap. Buried one of pickups on the city road, thankfully another guy came along so I could get pulled on solid payment to get things cleared. City made one pass down the middle and said F it.

Just got a text we are delayed till 9, so that’s nice.
Generator finally kicked off after 16 hours without power. The drive home from Ames last night was ok until the last 4 miles. Heading west was brutal. Might have been the worst driving conditions I’ve ever experienced.
That was my thought as well, but a couple of 2 ft tall drifts forced my hand.
Out in the country, the ground is in one of 3 states: completely bare, tall drifts, or 1" thick sheets of ice. The ice is treacherous.

This was a pickup with a rack on the back. Picture was taken this morning on Hwy 141 just east of Hwy 59 west of Manilla.

Man I hate this time of year when the yard is a sloppy muddy mess and the grass hasn't started growing back. I have a 1 year old golden retriever that loves to dig. I may not have a yard in another week, just a giant mud pit.
But that sloppy mess is what will allow the grass to grow back. Just happy to finally see some precipitation in the forecast to avoid a dry spring.
Sure... as long as you don't have a dog that tears it up just running around the yard. Beside, soil can get saturated to the point where it's bad for grass. It will get to a more reasonable soil moisture soon with a little more warmth, but the next couple of days are going to be a complete mess.
