***Official 2025 Weather Thread***

Pressure officially down to 896 mb, with other readings in the low-mid 890's. I think it saw that put it at #6 overall for the Atlantic.

Hope you enjoy volunteer rebuilding efforts.
We were in Negril almost exactly a year ago. There are a number of people I have heard who are doing exactly what you describe with their upcoming vacation plans. They are still going to go, but not from a vacation lens. They are going to support anyway they can. It is going to be brutal down there.

My uncle is from Jamaica but a citizen here in the states. He has a house on the SW side and his mom was going to move back there next year. We'll see if that is possible after this. Was hoping to visit sometime too....

Possible 13' storm surge. Bye-Bye Beaches!!
Are there many beach resorts on the southern coast of Jamaica? Negril is southwest coast (last I saw was not in direct impact path), while Montego Bay and Ocho Rios are northwest and north respectively.

Not storm surge, but Jamaica has mountains and this is a very slow moving storm. I’d be very concerned about mudslides.

EDIT: I could have researched this a bit. Long Beach Bay is a resort town, I guess. I am not familiar with it, maybe because it would take all day to get there from Montego Bay. LBB is dead center of the storm, I think.

A Sandals resort on the SW part of the island took a direct impact from the eye

Ended up with 1.3" here in north Ames. Much needed rain again!
That's about what I had also in my gauge when I checked a few minutes ago in N. Ames. We had the last fertilizer laid down on the yard on Monday, and the slow rain should take it right into the soil instead of washing it away.

And the coolest bar in the entire world is on the SW tip just off the coast. I hope it survives, I want to go back again someday:
