We were in Negril almost exactly a year ago. There are a number of people I have heard who are doing exactly what you describe with their upcoming vacation plans. They are still going to go, but not from a vacation lens. They are going to support anyway they can. It is going to be brutal down there.Hope you enjoy volunteer rebuilding efforts.
The amount of sand being washed away is massive. It will take quite a bit of work to bring it all back.Possible 13' storm surge. Bye-Bye Beaches!!
Are there many beach resorts on the southern coast of Jamaica? Negril is southwest coast (last I saw was not in direct impact path), while Montego Bay and Ocho Rios are northwest and north respectively.Possible 13' storm surge. Bye-Bye Beaches!!
A Sandals resort on the SW part of the island took a direct impact from the eyeAre there many beach resorts on the southern coast of Jamaica? Negril is southwest coast (last I saw was not in direct impact path), while Montego Bay and Ocho Rios are northwest and north respectively.
Not storm surge, but Jamaica has mountains and this is a very slow moving storm. I’d be very concerned about mudslides.
1.26" in Waukee - perfect timing after I aerated and threw down fertilizer on Sunday.Ended up with 1.3" here in north Ames. Much needed rain again!
That's about what I had also in my gauge when I checked a few minutes ago in N. Ames. We had the last fertilizer laid down on the yard on Monday, and the slow rain should take it right into the soil instead of washing it away.Ended up with 1.3" here in north Ames. Much needed rain again!

EDIT: I could have researched this a bit. Long Beach Bay is a resort town, I guess. I am not familiar with it, maybe because it would take all day to get there from Montego Bay. LBB is dead center of the storm, I think.
And the coolest bar in the entire world is on the SW tip just off the coast. I hope it survives, I want to go back again someday:
