Yup. Melissa went from a cat 1 yesterday to a cat 4 this morning. Expected to max out around 160 mph (low cat 5) as it approaches Jamaica. If you believe in such things, say a little prayer for them. Read this could be the worst direct hit on the island in their recorded history.Apparently Jamaica is about to get slammed by a bad hurricane
Melissa's winds now at *175* mph, with gusts to 215 mph. From a meteorological standpoint, it's a beautiful storm. Central dense overcast is a near perfect circle and a sharp eye.
FWIW the DoD etc. evacuated Gitmo early in the weekend.Never been to Jamacia, but have been a few other places down there on cruises and this thing is going to cause unbelievable havoc.
The DoW for now...FWIW the DoD etc. evacuated Gitmo early in the weekend.

I’ve taken care of my error. That’s what I get for posting in the wrong forums…Let's not cave the weather thread.

Might not happen for a few years. We have a trip to Jamaica planned for end of January. We’ll see if we go
Hope you enjoy volunteer rebuilding efforts. We have a trip to Jamaica planned for end of January. We’ll see if we go
As someone who saw what a borderline cat 4-5 (Hurricane Ian) did to Fort Myers beach, this is correct. That one was really bad, but not as quite as strong and moving a lot faster. Three years later some building are rebuilt. Some are fenced off shells.Might not happen for a few years.
