Gotta remember, the Raccoon River is not flooding nearly as bad as the Des Moines River. Levees have improve since the last major flood in 2008 and 2010. Still need to closely watch the forecast for northern Iowa especially over the next few weeks.

If the high is 85 and the low is 60. The 'average' would be 72.5. But if it's 80+ for like 16 hours during the day, then just briefly dips down to 60, is the 'average' temperature during the day really 72.5?

Forecast for north Iowa is rain on days that end in Y.

Those in DSM will want to watch Saylorville closely for the next two weeks. Current forecast is to pull it within 2 feet of spillway level. There is an additional 6 feet to give with the pneumatic gates that can lift in the spillway, but still getting a little too full for comfort downstream.

Didn't at one point when they used the spillway it uncover a bunch of fossils or something? Like it washed away a bunch of overburden and they found some fossils? Or am I just making **** up again.

Just hoping KC metro doesn’t get 6-7 inches of rain again today. My sons that live there had to get creative to get home from work yesterday.
 
Hope your boat still floats, if you take on Saylorville over the 4th! We saw less than a dozen boats on it on Sat afternoon going over the mile long bridge. Lots of logs and trees floating as it is still rising.
 
Are the weather nerds projecting how much or if at all Beryl is going to make its way inland? Will it be bringing a bunch more rain to the Midwest?
 
I was considering taking my kids to the carnival around 4 or 4:30 for a couple hours in Urbandale. Should I wait and go tomorrow?
