***Official 2023 Transfer Thread***

The plan seems to be a combo guard, shooting guard, and a wing. All capable scorers.
I think that sounds right to me, especially where the SG is an "alpha" / "volume scorer" (probably a 5th yr) who can average 15+ and play 35mpg. The other two can be more of the "project" type (hopefully with multiple years) to come of the bench - as long as they can play defense and shoot the 3.

I'm also going to keep beating the drum that the way we improve the offensive efficiency is having Tre King play the 5 more. A huge issue with the offense last year is that there were basically always 2 players on the court who were no threat to shoot from outside. If Lipsey and Williams can at least be threats from out there, and King is at the 5, then we have the ability to actually space teams out and attack them.

A lot of kids visited the places before and committed on their second chance. So a lot of kids have visited those schools. Just not this time around.

I hope this doesn't work out

This doesn't worry me that much. An ok player but feel a guy like Lipsey can cause him all types of problems.
Without a ton of knowledge, I'd say Morgantown, WV is more like Estonia than Tucson, AZ?

Probably a name that will get overlooked but worth mentioning. From Omaha, NE. Very good combo guard, not flashy but does a lot of things really well. Living out here I've seen him multiple times...

Seems like there are way more mid-major players in the portal what scored 15+ppg and shot 38%+ from 3 than I would have expected existed altogether. Probably a crap shoot to determine which ones will translate to P5 and which won't.

My uneducated assessments for those typically key on body type and athleticism. A guy that is 6'5+, 200+ lbs is probably going to translate better than someone who is shorter and lighter, particularly if they have the athleticism to match.

Huggie is a better coach,,,maybe?
In the eyes of the beholder, I guess. Look at the youngsters leaving Scott Drew's program. National championship coach. Yet, his program isn't good enough. It's getting goofy. Lots of guys will improve their circumstance, just as many won't, like this Arizona transfer, methinks.

Porter didn't get the Notre Dame job and now he's stuck and just playing out the string until he gets fired. I'm not sure he had any staying power at Loyola but, sometimes, you have to know your level and your limitations.

He did the same thing early in his career when he got the Illinois State job when he was nowhere near ready for it and it ended the same way.

He got his money. Now he can go back down to a comfy mid-major job again like Steve Prohm.
