New OC

Experience, experience, experience. We need an old sage like Wally the Wizard on the O side of the ball. Someone that everyone can learn from. I really like Mangino. And for those who think he'd be a distraction, how is it that he hasn't been a distraction in Youngstown? He's learned from his behavior and may be the best teacher to young men who've yet to make stupid mistakes of their own. He's a damn good coach and would be good for Rhoads too.

I think a change to a pro-style or 100% pistol offense makes sense because, they are more power running formations. IMO the back gets to the hole slower in the spread option, that means the OL needs to hold their blocks longer. Also, I look for ISU to try to control time of possession to keep the defense off the field. I just feel the defense get worn down, when a team runs the spread. Not only within the game, but over the course of the season. TT and Baylors defenses looked great in Sep/Oct, not so much in Nov.

three and out the the first five series of every game is what tires the defense.

A possible name could also be Todd Fitch (was on Mac's staff). He is one of Steve Loney's guys, he is a QB coach by trade (wr coach at BC for now) and was the OC/ QB Coach for Skip Holtz at ECU and South Florida. He understands ISU, recruiting Florida, teaches QB well and even knows some of our personnel as he recruited against us for a lot of kids.

Not saying he is the best guy but I do trust him

Todd Fitch - Very interesting.

My gut feeling is Paul knows who it is already or a very very short list. not sure the time line requirements a job has to be open, but it wouldn't surprise me if a name is not released soon (within a week .....assume this board doesn't explode by then!)

Just so everyone knows, most of this is bunk.
 
Still have to say Im shocked to see the trigger pulled so early!! The Pope firing really shocked me but it makes sense. Still finding myself shocked.

Let's see if I remember this....

Technically, ISU has to have a job posting and have the job posted for 14 days. Doesn't mean CPR has not already done some legwork; just trying to remember from previous openings.

And if I'm wrong, someone will correct me.
