Not the point. Fans are paying to get that information earlier than others. They are paying for that kind of content.

You're pretty much admmitting there is nothing wrong with information getting taken from a premium site and posted just minutes later on here because...well, it's going to get leaked anyway.

I honestly don't know...can someone educate me...out of the 19 commits for Iowa State...has this site broken any of the commitments first?

Unless you have proof that someone took information off of another site, then you cant say he got it off of a "premium" site. People could have sources just like Jeremy. Its just pathetic how some people are just little babies about recruiting information. Just like ajjohnson said, because of these people we can not have any fun over recruits because everyone will think we took it off of a "premium" site.

ok, im sorry. but that is exactly what i love. beauty of the internet. :biggrin9gp:

in all honesty, i feel bad for people who pay for the 2 hour advantage because you know everyone else will know the news soon after!

Let's just stop right here. Please refer to the Site Rules (LINK provided). Please see #4.

Since I've typed it out all before (LINK), here is my personal take on this issue. Please, guys, let's just be respectful:

There is no way for us to know what info is from where. For every source that someone on a so-called "rival" site has, someone here probably has either a similar or the exact SAME source, whether they post it or not. I would argue that there is info from Jeremy that has been posted here first (notably, Mac's resignation/firing, while NOBODY got the Chizik hiring right). I think a major reason for that is that Jeremy probably has some of the same or similar sources to others - there are how many employees of the athletic department, and then how many more members of the teams? Someone's roommate's sister told someone's brother something... and so on, and so on. This comes back to your post - there really isn't any way for us to be sure of anything.

Jeremy posted it both here and in other threads that it is not cool to gank info from premium sites and put the info here without any other sources. This is a courtesy to those sites. This site also does not allow threads/posts bashing any other site, whether or not that is reciprocated.

To be clear, however... To those who talk about Jeremy in a negative manner, saying that he has stolen information from other sites:

1. Jeremy does not have a premium membership on the main site in question. In fact, the admins from the sites ban each other's IP addresses, so this is impossible for Jeremy to directly steal information.

2. If any information shows up here posted by Jeremy and is later than it being posted on another site, it's important to remember that this board is not Jeremy's job. This is not a source of any valid income for him, as it is for the owner of other sites. If you put Jeremy on your buddy list, you will see how infrequently he is actually able to sign on during the day, due to a +50 hr/week job. It's improbable that he would be able to get every piece of info up here as quickly as someone whose job it is to do so.

I don't mean to sound like I'm speaking for Jeremy or the site at large - these are just my thoughts, not those of anyone else. I hope those who come to this site enjoy it as much as I do (even if they've gone to sleep reading this post :rolleyes5cz: ). Hopefully the in-fighting will cease, since we're all just here to support ISU sports!!!

Don't you find it odd though that this site ALWAYS reports the news after one of the premium sites does? Seems that quite a few of the posters and admins claim to have sources inside ISU, and yet can't ever break a story first?

Thats the other thing, everything on here is such speculation, why get all uppity about it. Remember when our for sure new head bball and football coaches were reported wrong on this site. no need to get our panties in a bunch.

You are 100% right. I have no proof...but do you have proof that it DIDN'T happen either? No, you likely don't.

Personally, I just find it fishy that stuff isn't broken first on this site.

Like I said, start breaking some news before those sites, and no one will be pissed. Just doesn't happen much that I see.

We arent suppose to bash boards, and I'm not trying to at all, cause this is the only cyclone related board I frequent. but at the same time, i take everything I read with a grain of salt because I know people are trying to be "cool" by breaking speculations as legit news, and be the first one to do it.

Actually, people from other sites came over here and made snotty comments to Jeremy when he broke the news about Mac's "resignation". Within a few hours, it was up on other sites.

This is not Jeremy's primary job. He makes no money off of this site, and just does it in his off-time of a 50-hr/week job. He also has a wife, house, dogs, and an extended family that is very close-knit. He can't afford to be on this site 20+ hours a day.

Not directed at you, Lewdawg - just making a general point. Also, please see my earlier post.

Angie,
I totally agree with you on the ISU sources information...but it seems odd to me that this site never breaks information...I mean...there are plenty of commits this year, and if these posters have similar sources you would think at least one or two would show up on here first. I think commit is such a big deal because
1. The poster who posted this information has a rivals premium membership and logged on to the rivals board minutes before posting the information here.
2. The player in question committed long before it was posted here, and the rivals source came from their Juco coach, I doubt the poster in question source is the juco coach? Or was it just a coincidence that his source told him at almost the exact same time the juco coach told rivals?

I will be interested to see how the rest of the recruting stories come out...and if CF can break some of them first.

Again....start breaking stories first consistently and none of this will be brought up again. Not that hard to understand.

Not really questioning Jeremy so much as so of the other posters who post info here.

Well, that is wrong that they put posts from here over there...however, can you say it's 100% the same thing? Taking information from a free site vs. taking information from a paying site.

It works two ways buddy, if you dont like how this site is being run, then you dont have to read it. I dont want to speak for anyone but I'm sure Jeremy wont lose any sleep over it considering this is a FREE site and no one pays any money to view it. Jeremy spends all of his free time to make sure we get top notch Cyclone information at NO cost. The last thing he needs is for someone like you to come in and start saying thing like that.

As mentioned, it's not the full time job of anyone on here to get the information up first. If two people have the similar sources and one has the full time job of distributing the information that they get from them and one doesn't then who is going to get it out first? I also recall several times, primarily with the coaching situations where Jeremy was first.

Also, I think there is a distinction to be drawn between the word-of-mouth spreading of premium information and the wholesale distribution of it via a website. Talking with a few friends about what you saw on a premium site seems to be well within the limits of fair use. Once people start talking it won't take long for them to find a free source confirming something they've heard (such as a free section of one of the premium sites or a random news article). At that point they can post information based on these free sources and the whole world knows. Given the wonder that is the internet this doesn't take very long. Perhaps the premium sites should stop posting their main piece of information on the free parts of their sites (such as "X commits") because that releases the information into the public domain very quickly.

maybe we should just all pay to be on CF, then it can be considered a legitimate news source. I mean if CR/CN is reporting Jeter/Kelley as for sure our next head coach, why aren't we taking anytihng off CF as legit info. People need to realize that the sites they are paying for are no less speculation than what is going on here.
