New Commit

Who has GC signed in his short time that would make you think that he does a poor job of evaluating recruits?

I have to admit that I have more questions about this class than I did last year's. At the moment, it just seems to me that lower rated guys who happened to visit sooner are rushing to commit before better players visit, or while they're exploring their options.

However, that's just an impression, and I am quite willing to keep an open mind. And athletically, at least, compared to some of the other guys, this kid at least has excellent track credentials, despite being undersized.

Welcome to the Cyclones, Jeremy!

If midget isn't an insult say it to the recruit's face or say it to Gene on his call in show. I bet you'd be 2 for 2 on offending somebody.

Spin away.

Why didn't you just say this in the first place , MT again good job out of you Aclone:yes:.

Im sure you can think of alot more words for "midget", heres a nice and polite way to say it...undersized

Oh please. You've never heard of hyperbole? Who really considers a guy 5-7 a midget? Kirk Douglas is 5-7. Do you consider him a midget?!!

Some of you guys take this board way-y-y too seriously.

You sound like I suggested that we should drop out of the confference.

Edit: Just for whoever is wondering...

Demeaning? My ***. For major college football, a guy 5-7 150 IS a midget. Would you have preferred if I had said Smurf? The Redskins were quite proud of their Smurfs. How is that offensve?

99 percent of the time I would agree with you in over sensitivity to word usage, but c'mon. The guy commits to become a member of our football team and one of the first things said on this site was you referring to him as a midget. Poor choice, as has been talked about many times a lot of recruits read boards to see what is being said about them. The first thing he'll see is you calling him a midget, great welcome to a kid who wants to be our player. The choice of that word was something someone with a peanut sized brain would make, and that's not an insult, Brain size doesn't necessarily mean anything about intelligence.

JEREMY IF YOU'RE READING THIS WELCOME TO THE TEAM. LOOKING FORWARD TO CHEERING FOR YOU!

Pretty sure if he was 6'1 or 6 foot with a 4.3-40 he would be a 4 or possibly 5 star recruit and not even looking at iowa state. speed is speed. and ISU needs it bad!

I wasn't referring to just that post.

I was.

It was a terrible post insulting a recruit. I don't care how many others you posted that were great, this post was specific to a specific commit to our football team. Only the midget minded would think differently.

And yes, I wish you would have used different wording that wasn't insulting.

Hmm. I suppose I could go back and edit my post. However, knee jerk reaction that it is, it's still my honest opinion. Not that he's actually a midget (that's laughable), but that the staff has commitments from a surprising number of undersized players lately.

So, the question becomes abridging my personal integrity (whether I look stupid or not), versus risking hurting the feelings of a kid who already knows good and how athletic he is, by some random, faceless moron on a message board.

Yeah, I betcha his feelings would be hurt. For about a half a second. Maybe.

Jeremy, if you read this, I hope you're a better man than that. Than I am, for that matter. And it certainly wasn't a criticism of you, but wondering just exactly what the staff is up to.

Best wishes, and I'm really loking forward to seeing what you can do!

Welcome aboard Jeremy. Thanks for picking the Cyclones. Can't wait to see that speed at Jack Trice.

Welcome to the Cyclone Family, Jeremy!

Please disregard the few "experts" on this site that have the magic ability to measure your heart, effort, leadership, and football skills by watching a couple video clips on a recruiting site.

It's great to receive your commitment. Please know that (most of) us fans are also just as committed.

Go Cyclones!

To all of the negative people on this board ----
Ever heard of "Self-fulfilling prophecy".

If you want something to change, display a positive attitude, rather than negative.
All of the "in-fighting" gets old, I really like following along with other ISU fans, but I really think Gene said it best (paraphrasing): Our fans are great, but disappointed, this will be a different team in a couple of years...

we just need to show a bit of patience.
Go ISU, i'm hopeful for a good showing against OSU!

Since I'm the only so called "expert" being continuously objected to, I haven't seen a single video yet. Talk about taking my comments out of context.

My only (and obvious) question was in reference to a straightforward, unequivocal 5-7 150 listed size. And that only because of a number of undersized commits lately.

Duh. :skeptical:

4.3 second 40 is fantastic. Would that make him the fastest guy on the team? How could anyone be critical of that?

Now you morons are laughable. That's enough. It stops now.

It doesn't take very much to know that on this site (aside from any topic regarding Brad Childress), I am always positive. I fight all of the negativity "sky is falling" idiots.

So I questioned that the staff had gotten commitments a number of undersized players in a row. I have a right to question when something seems odd, or unusual, happens; and if you like, I could compare it to sitting around quietly when Marty Fine recruits a bunch of big, slow, fat kids.

We all know how that turned out, don't we?

Or, would you prefer I drink the proverbial koolaid?

So, Jamie Reeves, I hope you know that all Cyclone fans aren't a bunch of flaming morons who take other people's comments out of context. Welcome to the Cardinal and Gold!

Time for me to go cool off.

hmm - well, i don't know you from Adam, nor do you know me (so frankly -- leave it alone, enough of name calling) your's was just an example of this board. I wasn't talking just about u, just in general, i come to this board, thinking I'll be able hear a little about ISU, only to hear negative thoughts..

but, now - yes... I'm calling u out for being nasty to me for absolutely no reasons.. Stop the name calling!!!

Welcome to ISU...hope that you can keep that speed and move the ball down the field.

We have only 4 commits under 6 feet tall and both Beshears and Blankenship have solid weight at 185 and 207 respectively. Leonard Johnson is under 180 and no one is questioning him. Height isn't the only measuring stick.
