All I am saying is that we are better off with Texas.
I agree, but no longer think it's a deal breaker. They can go independent I guess, but as much $$$ as they have they ae slowly becoming a cancer.

We have a home and it's just fine. Listen to Boone Pickens a bit.First, I am an Iowan. Second, I am an Iowa alum and a Hawkeye fan. Wanted to make sure I said that up front. I'm not a "troll" and I only root against Iowa State when they line up against Iowa.
That all out there, I am curious how this will shake out for ISU in terms of what makes the most sense for all sports involved. Clearly, ISU cannot go to the Mountain West or MAC. You simply draw too many fans in the revenue sports to be relegated to these conferences. Oddly enough, ISU would likely be extremely competitive in those conferences from day one, but what does dominating these mid-major type conferences get a school? Yep- a nine seed in the NCAA tournament or a trip to Detroit for a bowl game.
Does the Big East make sense? For ISU I'd say yes- tough in basketball, but for the most part ISU would be able to hold its own. But does ISU make sense for the Big East? Only if there is legislation passed that requires Iowa and Iowa State games are never EVER on at the same time. That would be the best way to assure eyeballs on the tv that would justify the revenue.
I do know I want ISU to continue to be in a BCS conference- you really do deserve that. Certainly more than the UConn football team for example deserves it.
I wish you all the best of luck, except for this Saturday, and hope ISU finds a good home.
Don't know. But if A&M views it as sticking it to the longhorns, then they probably would.so rebecacy, if Texas would leave, is there any chance that a&m sticks around? I assume not.
texas reminds me of the high performer at my business that has the poison attitude. Very hard to fire because they deliver but in the end they have to go because they ruin the culture. The big xii needs a culture of stability and unity much more than they need texas. All I am saying is that we are better off with Texas.

I must have missed your introduction as a new member just this September and with 3 posts. CF has been around a long time-where have you been-Iowan?I did. And if it all goes down that way, you are right, you have a home. I wouldn't agree right now that it's just fine, but it could be.
And it may not be. All I am saying is that Iowa State deserves better treatment than this. If you want to be terse and think I am trying to start something, so be it. I am not. Mine is a "split" family- with both Iowa and ISU grads and supporters. My father played (okay, suited up) on the ISU football team back in the day. He played baseball there. I had an uncle who was a professor there until his untimely death a few years ago, so I harbor no ill will toward ISU.
Regarding T. Boone, I have great respect for him, but he doesn't have the power to stop this locomotive of change within the college sports landscape. Considering that the Big XII was allegedly unified 12 short months ago, and now one school has publicly voiced its intention to leave, another two (minimum) are strongly considering it, and it becomes hard to see how this ends well. There is an old saying that goes "Convince someone against their will, they are of the same opinion still." In other words, legally bar a school from leaving, they will only work harder to find a way to leave.
Again, I wish you well this season. I'd love to have two Iowa teams to root for this bowl season and four to root for in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. As I started with my original post, First I am an Iowan.

What's in the article won't happen but the threat is real...... it is just another example (I've tried every way I know how to point out) that WE don't need them. I'm done arguing but predict, we will get some great teams to join us ----- Texas is not needed and the little boys have figured that out and joined together. Even Oklahoma is on board and took the lead in delivering the message. The plan is in motion, we have called their bluff and (even tho it won't happen) I hope they take their ball, ego and the money they won't share equitably and go away forever. Where are all the folks that wanted us to be pro-active. Well here it is and it is a brilliant plan.
I hear ya Erik, but it seems a little strange that he signs up a few days ago and then comes on here saying he sure hopes we find a home and that he's a hok fan but just dearly loves ol' ISU because he has a split family and the other half of the family are Cyclones. I've heard that old song and dance too many times.Even though it's game week, this guy is OK so far.
We'll have enough trolls to chase around tomorrow. This guy seems reasonable.
Of course, if he changes his tune, then all bets are off.......

My family has way more connections to EIU than he does to ISU and yet I root for the hoks to lose every game. The sight of the hok symbol boils my blood everytime I see it-ask my wife. And I was born and raised in Iowa and I've been an Iowan far longer than he has.
Well, shucks... I guess we could give him a little bit of a break. It's pretty bad timing on his part to show up the week of the ISU-EIU game. You've got a good point about normal troll hoks not being able to help themselves. They show their true feathers sooner or later!I have no problems with that. I'm just figuring that the normal troll Hawk can't help himself, and it'll be obvious very soon without any help.
I'm not exactly cheering for Iowa here. Just thought we could be fair to this guy while he proves himself one way or the other.

Dr Gene Lloyd (the lloyd who's name is on the side of the VET MED addition) just told me that He, JP, GG, Harkin, Grassley and 3 or 4 US House members were all in a suite up in the pressbox Saturday and they met again yesterday. I ask Dr. L if the Big XII would survive and all he would say was "change is good" and "we will be more than just alright." He's 87 and sharp as a tack and is NUTS about ISU. Quietly given millions upon millions. While telling me this, his smile was one of great satisfaction. You can take this or leave it but it made me feel a whole lot better.
He also said that looking at the new scoreboard is difficult from up in the upper pressbox, have to bend over to see it.
