My conference tidbit

i think he means the Big East is on the backburner, "change is good" I think JP is great at spinning things and will make it look like a positive move

Better than alright would mean a greater Big 12 or even better an invite to Big 10. Like others I can't see the Big East as better than alright.

What if the BE gets a reworked TV deal that puts the $$ that each school would make close to the deal that the B12 would have? I think this is would actually be good in the long run. Competition and the balance of power is more conducive for ISU, If the $$ can be close to what we would make in the B12.

Who in the press would care?

You have a point, right now the local, and even national media, is having a heyday ******** all over Iowa State for seemingly no reason. This could be construed as positive news for the little guy, and that doesn't sell as well as doom and drama does.

I guess my main question is why do all media outlets have this belief that Kansas State would get taken over Iowa State if the Big East already had Kansas? If this really is all about TV sets(one of the main reasons why the national media says ISU is irrelevant), then wouldn't it make more sense to take ISU to get into a different footprint? Especially considering that Kansas has made it clear they can go it alone without KSU if necessary? Honestly I feel like Baylor is the only one feeling an extreme amount of heat in this one. Missouri, ISU, KU, and KSU have all been extremely quiet with no leaks, don't you think they'd be making a bigger fuss if their athletic departments were all about to go down the tube over this? Just look at Baylor's site...

Baylor University || Baylor Nation || Don't Mess With Texas Football

That to me screams problems. The only thing we've heard out of JP and the ISU athletic department is very general statements of neutrality, or hesitant positivism. I'm cautiously optimistic about this whole thing...

rebecacy --- have you ever made a post that didn't include letting all of us peons know that you are some kind of big **** ? I don't remember any.

If you are big ****, why did Dr. Lloyd have to be cryptic with you? I would think one big **** could be candid with another big ****. Maybe he is bigger **** than you, but that seems hard to believe, since you would certainly like us to believe you are not only big ****, but king **** if not emperor ****. How is it that emperor **** is not in the inner circle? Could it be you are only prince ****?

I would literally laugh my *** off if ISU was accepted into the Big 10. Then we could create a thread on CycloneFanatic getting the emails of every single journalist who spelled gloom and doom and tell them to suck it.

Could you be any more of an ***? Only at isu is being connected or a big donor an insult. I am glad for the post and cryptic reassurance is better than none.

Just as complete, wild speculation based on ZERO knowledge, I could see Pollard thinking "I can sell that."

We already set a precedent of giving more money to certain members in the BigXII for various concessions. With new schools with wider TV audiences, a enw Big East contract could give us close to what we were projected to make under realistic BigXII scenarios. What that buys us is much more beneficial competition and more level playing field and a brand new balance of power. I would be willing to say that we stand a pretty good chance of being a power player in a "western" division setup of the Big East, and at the very least very competing for the division championship fairly often.

If he was selling that, with an AQ carrot at the end of it with decently realistic shots at the BIG EAST championships in football, I bet a lot of people would be buying. Imagine that Farmegeddon game with Big East championship game on the line. That actually sounds pretty good to me.

Cheers

I wonder if the mods have stats on how much swearing on the boards increased during conference realignment.

I know you have an axe to grind, but they may have been sworn to secrecy and that anything said was not allowed to leave the room. I know I have had times where I have not been able to divulge information, but could talk in generalities (even to my boss).

Except being then most rural school in the big East would KILL football recruiting.

Did he steal your girlfriend or something? Geesh. You're in the extreme minority here, pal.

Thanks rebecacy for sharing!

No, he couldn't. He has reached max *** level. Nothing is surprising anymore.

I agree with this. I have no problem with rebecacy's post. But if I find out he/she was lying.... he/shee will have some 'splainin' to do

Exactly. Recall that last year the BE brought on former NFL commish Paul Tagliabue to consult on expansion/TV deals. The NFL is the model of $$$. The BE still holds a key to the footprint that so many covet...has it been tapped appropriately...or will it soon be. Remember it's not about who's watching, it about available TV sets counted. We should know that...I haven't watched the B1G network...yet amazingly I pay for it without choice....look for the same in NYC and many other BE footholds...

Yeah, I just counted 23 guys on the roster from Texas. I think that pretty much goes away if we're in the Big East. Maybe we can offset that with more of a focus on Florida, maybe not.

Has he ever made a post that didn't reference his wealth and status? I don't have an axe to grind. I just hate pompous rich windbags. Come from being "poor" I guess.
