UPDATE: Looks like the speculation is warranted. As I was making the original post this thing started spreading like wildfire. I’ve actually never seen a rumor come together so quickly, as it’s gone from the initial stages of chatter to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reporting the Vikings and Patriots are close to a deal. It’s contingent on the Vikings reaching s contract extension with Moss.

It would definitely be a good get for the Vikings...but if they lose at the Jets this weekend, they will be 1-3 and will likely have to be 9-3 the rest of the season to have a shot at the playoffs. After the Jets game, they play Dallas at home, at Green Bay, at New England, Arizona, at Chicago, and then Green Bay at home. There could be at least 3 losses in that bunch.

Wow...this is huge. I can't understand why the Patriots would give him up this season. I think they have a shot to win the division but if they give him up, the Jets will win it and the Pats could even miss the postseason.

I just read some rumors from Patriot fans that NE will trade for Vincent Jackson if they get rid of Moss. I can't see NE giving up the draft picks that SD was looking for. I think it is more likely that they must believe that Brandon Tate has the potential to step up if they deal Moss.
