I think it was talked about the last couple years how he would kind of go off grid in the Keys during the offseason. That's one of the ****** things about early death, not enjoying retirement.

Leach didn't strike me as the type of guy who enjoys retirement.

Death had to come at him quickly otherwise he would have talked its ear off for another 40 years.....what a legend. Really glad we could sort of follow his career over the years. Left his mark on CFB.

Glad we got to face his WSU team in a bowl game. It sucked to lose that game but knowing who the guy was on the other side made it tolerable.

I have an unhealthy obsession with the EA Sport's NCAA Football series. I remember getting the edition with Graham Harrell in it and just balling out with Texas Tech. Before that, it was all sweeps, options, and play action.

Did he ever settle his legal dispute with Texas Tech about his contract? If not, what happens now?

Where they love the governor

Funny story in there about him being the sports information director at Iowa Wesleyan.

“It was one of those deals where she was yelling at him for like 30 seconds straight and he has the phone pulled away from his ear,” Mumme says. “And then Mike, in that monotone voice of his goes, ‘Iowa Wesleyan sports information had gotten Iowa Wesleyan into the USA Today three times this year. Your office couldn’t get Iowa Wesleyan into the USA Today unless there was a mass murder on campus.’ And then she really lost it.
