I agree that an interim coach is not a good situation, but we have an interim coach right now and today went pretty well.

If Creighton doesn't end up selecting Mac, here's another possible scenario: Creighton hires Ben Jacobson (Ben leaves because his salary is doubled) and Mac ends up back at UNI.

The thing that is real curious here is how we got verbal commitments from 2 guys on the same day Coach McDermott is supposedly meeting with Creighton's AD...that seems a bit odd to me, but certainly not impossible to fathom.

Part of the job man. If he is interim and is bringing in a bunch of studs he will keep his job. He will make sure recruits understand that. If we go 10-20 next year but have 4 studs coming in do you think JP will get rid of him? Hell no. Besides that he would get rid of him with plenty of time for the recruits to switch. On the other side, if he is 20-10 with mediocre recruits, he will still be kept. From where we are right now, this will be a 2-3 year rebuilding job. I don't think interim would be the tag given. I do think Nurse should be the guy if we are paying him anyway. A lot of the stud players would be intrigued by the possibility of playing for a guy whose job was to develop talent for the NBA.
