Sadly, there is a good chance that if you spent $500K of the savings on top assistants you could better our 4-year run.Just throwing my hat in the coaching ring. I'll lead ISU MBB for $100,000/year. That's 1/8th of what Greg did it for, and if I fall below what he did, I'll refund half of my paycheck. I have integrity, and I'm a good guy. Apparently those are the only relevant characteristics to do this job.
Could a program strapped for cash win by hiring a young, unproven, not-in-demand, but well known assistant for a $200K, and spend another $500K on top assistants? The press from hiring an inexperienced candidate may be too hard to overcome though.
